I am using a 3GB IS account with the 128K Openbrowse project. Everything was going fine before i was capped (But noticeably slower), now that im capped i just cant do anything!!! I have done all the proxy settings etc.

I left FTP to my web server up over night (Cause it is just too slow to wait for on IS) to wake up and find that it has not completed and disconnected halfway!!! I cant get into hotmail and gmail for some reason! Whe going to www.google.co.za every now and then i get a "Page contains no Data" Message, this morning i cant even get into google. Certain pages are returning "Your proxy is blocking this protocol messages". Im supposed to get 30GB Local well...I cant use DC++ cause it disconnects evey 10min so i loose my slots.

And now this is the biggest worry to me, i couldnt even get to www.mybroadband.co.za last night and this morning, im using a friends SAIX account to write this!!!!

Looks like from next month its back to SAIX for me

Send MrBeep a PM. He will sort you out in no time. Theres no need to worry, whatever the problem is he will take care of it. He cant do anything about it untill you notify him that theres a problem.

I have been suprised in the manner that he takes care of his clients like they are his close personal friends. Awesome service, awesome support.

yeah i know he is very good at what he does, the only thing im worried about is that it is an IS problem that will be out of his hands

While IS have tried very hard to get into the ADSL market the are faling to please, all our IS customers bitch while the SAIX clients are happy

all our IS customers bitch while the SAIX clients are happy

If you ask me, its all the people who bitch as a hobby, that went over to IS and the ones that dont really bitch who stayed with SAIX...afaik

same happened to us (2 people sharing a line), so next month we are signing with somebody else...

promises werent kept and the hassle isnt worth it.

So far I have had very little problems with IS, I did have the spell just after the 1st of November, but nothing since, there are times when international is slow (around midday), but last night out of curiosity I tried it a bit with my proxy on, and it flew, faster that my normal access

I am very happy with my SAIX account, fast download, fast gaming, its all good, and i havent had a single issue. My buddy went over to IS and has had a couple of issues so i glad i stayed :)

Yes Im glad MRBEEP gave me two test accounts. One capped and the other one still uncapped at 3gigs. I tested both and decided IS is not for me. Get a 10gig SAIX account rather for R349 from SAOL or OpenWeb.

well, before we were capped all seemed fine, then when openbrowse is supposed to kick in, we change proxy settings, and test performance. almost nothing. so IS seems ok enough, just not openbrowse. opening gmail takes 10 minutes, if you're lucky. local was fine though. all in all, not a bad idea. but in this screwed up country, nothing is worthwhile. Telkom has me by the short and curlies no more. will do my research and crap at work. if windows needs patches, i would rather carry my whole computer case on the train all the way to cape town than deal with their crud.

the hassle isnt worth it, like i mentioned. the amount of mails from the service provider is quite worrying as well (just like with the nukecap services). every other day mails come through indicating something is wrong, or this is being upgraded in this area so expect some degredation of service, etc. strange that axxess never had this happening. i now understand why paying a little more for peace of mind is good practice.

eye_suc - Ever wondered that most of the informed mail could have never been send out, would it then have shown better service/more reliable service?

We keep users informed, others may not. It doesnt mean they offer a more reliable service, they just keep you in the dark more than likely.

Hey Friends,

I am quite sad to hear that some of our users are unhappy. As always, we will try to please everybody, and will help you through every problem you might have.

As for our OpenBrowse packages: many users are very happy with the service we provide, and are clocking up phenomenal speeds. Unfortunately, with every system, there will be teething problems. For example, this morning one of our main servers failed. We have since rerouted all traffic to our backup server, on the same speed lines. We have learnt a great lesson about how we can try and prevent this from happening again, and that is what life is all about. We as humans learn new things everyday.

We are a new company, but a new company with vision, and passion. We WILL change the face of broadband in South Africa, and I hope you will be alongside us all the way.

If you are experiencing ANY problems, big or small, my door is ALWAYS open.

Have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the day!
Kind regards
MrBEEP

wasnt taking a stab at you :o

yes, you keep users informed, that is true. but with axxess i never noticed any problems that required them to inform us about.

i am sure openbrowse works, it just isnt for me :) what this exercise has tought me is to avoid south african ADSL for some time until the wrinkles are ironed out. with all the money saved a person could do quite a lot.

i repeat, this is not intended to badmouth openweb (openweb worked, what seemed to be, 100%) or openbrowse. just wanted to confirm that there are some difficulties involved with openbrowse.

also clipse, openweb and your services works most of the time. for the price they cannot be beat.

what i dont understand is this.

people complain day in and day out about how telkom sux. how they hate saix. how expensive everything is. then they go on for pages and pages and pages about how bad saix's network is. they complain about shaping, pings, downtime...everything!

They then move to IS, who have only recently entered the ADSL market, and what do you know. They start complaining about how bad IS's network is. How bad the speed is. How they cant do this and that.

I find it exceptionally strange that the only problems I had with IS was on the 1st and 2nd of November. since then i have had unbelievable speeds.

when everyone on saix is bitching about how they cant download international and how badly their p2p's are shaped, im sitting on IS smiling all the way, whilst maxing out my torrents....

this country will never change with moaners like you....

just think about it.

please note, i was confirming the original posters problems. i wasnt b!tchin' and moanin'

i have quite clearly mentioned that the performance i got from IS was fine (openweb account), so IS wasnt the problem here.

want me to clarify further? :)

im not referring to you directly. im referring to the person reading it, whoever it might be.

Maybe everybody just want a decent working uninterfered with service! After all this should be a simple easy to use pleasurable experience! However with all the interference from suppliers this has now become an add-on industry where it sometimes work(until another hole is plugged) it is a labyrinth for normal users to navigate through.

We pay a premium for the ADSL experience, we deserve for it to work properly 99% of the time. It is that simple! If it does not work as advertised you should seek retribution instead of just accepting it.

Dont worry, you give excellent service (That sounds so bad on so many levels). Like I said, last night I had a problem with one web page that loaded like crap, and I decided to just see what speeds I can expect with the proxy on (I use two browsers...Opera for non proxy browsing and firefox for my proxy), and the page almost flew of the screen so fast did it load.

Keep up the good work, you have a customer for live here (well thats what I said to Axxess also, until they screwed me out of bandwidth on the last day of october)

I dont know hey, i think the moaners have their opinions that add to the development of this country!!! Am i supposed to walk around with a happy smile on my face when i cant get my work done??? If someones service cannot meet my needs, no matter how nice they are, their service is not for me then. Especially for the fact that yesterday it took me 5 hours to uploud 10Mb via FTP, only to find that some files had been dropped on the way.

Let me tell you this, comming from iburst i can tell you that the only way they are still in business is because people arent complaining. I recently found out that one of my directors has not been able to connect for 2 weeks now on iburst but has kept quite because of the reason "im sure they doing their best...." I mean come on!!

Get real!
