The DA has FEW BLACKS in its upper echelons because it has had relatively few black candidates to draw from thus far. They are mostly voting ANC, IFP or COPE. The DA is not racist - people who say that are either paranoid or racists themselves.

The absolute majority of the poor and uneducated masses will vote ANC because they know no better and are not prepared to be informed of any other choice. This was evident in the pre-election debates where as soon as a DA member started speaking, they started booing. From the first word.

Floor crossing was one of the most un-democratic, immoral things a politician could do.
If the guy wanted to change fine, but the votes/percentage etc should stay with the party. That was the problem.
There are two reasons for that.
1. The DA places competence above other qualities.
2. Thanks to Apartheid, many black people in this country do not have the education required to competently manage political affairs.
Once you have finished calling me a racist, have a think about this. I would rather that competent people tried to improve the lives of black people, so that everyone wins. The alternative presented by the ANC is transformation at all costs. The costs are usually that the poor and uneducated remain poor and uneducated because the ANC does not have the skills to improve their lives.
Don't think of the people on the DA's candidate list as white. Think of them as educated and middle-class. They are educated and middle-class thanks to Apartheid, but they can't help that now.
What they *can* do is use the privileges that the apartheid system let them have to improve the lives of all South Africans.
The ANC's main support base is poor and uneducated. As soon as ANC members become well-off and intelligent, they form breakaway parties. So it is in the ANC's best interests to keep everyone in South Africa poor and uneducated! One of the side effects of that is that people who can actually do their jobs competently will remain predominately middle-class and therefore (mainly) white, which gives the ANC and people like yourself a great angle with which to attack them.
Anyway. Thanks to the combined efforts of both the pre- and post-Apartheid governments, I'm sure that none of this will make any sense to you. But maybe someone else will be able to -- oh, I don't know ... rewrite it in comic format perhaps?

If we could surgically remove the entrenched prejudices in peoples minds maybe what you say would make sense to most people. However that is only in theory. In the real world we all know those prejudices rule the roost & the races don't trust each other to do the right thing.
Same of the ANC, they don't believe left alone, beneficiaries of apartheid would willing share the advantage they gained due to pre-'94 laws. To a good degree the ANC's paranoia is justified everyday by all sorts of bigots.

As long as the DA continues to patronise black people as it does it will never be seen as realistic in its inclusion of blacks in its ranks. Just check out the election posters, the only white person is Zille. The others are Indians and blacks. I mean the DA is supported mostly by whites yet there is no other white person besides Zille.
Do they believe that we blacks don't see what they are trying to do? Please Zille, I know you are not racist so stop using racist tactics to attract blacks. You are killing the party.

With regards to the DA, you do know the majority of Cape Town is coloured.

It seems if you don't put blacks on posters its racism, if you do put blacks on posters its patronising. So please tell me siphox, which is it?
I only see Zuma on ANC posters, btw, does that mean the ANC is only for black males? I guess so, using sipho's logic.
