Chavez told reporters: "I always say it would be marvelous if we sold oil to the rich countries at US$200 a barrel and to the poor countries at US$5 a barrel.
FIN24 article

Seeing that wealthy people have to pay so much more, while poor people get so much more for so much less, is their any point in taking risk, being creative or working hard anymore?

It makes me wonder, who the rich truly are.

All this will accomplish, is that poor nations will get a nice extra bit of income from their new export business. Now every poor nation can be a oil exporter.

The dude is a complete joke :D

Although a rather disturbing one :(

Exactly, its so stupid, not to mention totally unrealistic. Then again Chavez never was very grounded in reality.

Holy crap. And he is the ruler of a country. I think this whole oil business and our reliance on it is retarded but is this guy for real?

well at current prices - i could do with some of his $5 oil, invest away!
he is a joke though

"How are you going to sell oil to Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, at US$100, the same price that you sell it to the US? It's not right ethically," Chavez said in an interview broadcast on state television late Tuesday.

ethically i dont think it's right

That's the way the world works, anything else is impractical. If you sell everything to Haiti cheaply you're effectively forcing the US to subsidise Haiti and eventually the US will end up poor.

That is exactly the african mentality. If someone is rich take it away so we all can be poor. (except a few ppl in the gov that is)

U.S of A

Listen - I'm not going to allow myself to degenerate into this thread much further than this post.

practically yes, but ethically it is not right.

Why not sell them oil at $200 a barrel?
They never signed the Kyoto Protocol, consume more oil than most and dont seem to give a damn, it may do them some good.

A chosen few in the US has been working the world in there favor for a long long time now, they are the proverbial elephant in the room with millions of 'patriotic' peons who drive guzzling 4x4 or 10x10's, and think alabama is a country, ready to go to war to further the interests of a chosen few.

It a farce! the whole american way a joke, download zeitgeist the movie, it's free so no US royalty's required.

$ is dead Euro is the new force

peace

Off topic, the zeitgeistmovie suggests that money is not it's weight in gold anymore, well, why should it be, if it were, we would simply be spending billions so that millions of miners go underground, experience harsh and deadly conditions everyday, all for a useless metal.

The EU, BOJ, SA reservebank, and almost all others are printing money at will, the US is not the only one.
If you don't understand modern economics, or aren't atleast part of the reservebank or federal comities, then please don't make arrogant bigoted claims about it.

What talent, creativity or hard work do OPEC countries do for trillions of dollars each year.

Sometimes its not even worth replying. ;) The Euro's also a fiat currency so how can he support that then if its not backed by gold?

I think TBone and him have a lot in common. Perhaps not as much as Jacob(shower power) Zuma does but hey nobody is perfect :D

Seems like a paradise in Chavez's Venezuela too:

Venezuela scrambles for food despite oil boom

:D

No comments from the GLB about how legendary Chavez is. :D.

On-topic: Doesn't Chavez understand that most of the world operates in the free-market? I suppose the reason he is out of touch with reality is that he loves to live out his socialist ideals.

GLB? He doesn't seem to understand the concept of a free market. He doesn't seem to understand much actually.

Yet another brave revolutionary resistance fighter has been abandoned to face the imperialist American pigs alone. :o

Xarog I bet still fancies him. Unfortunately I think he is doing drills in Tehran at the moment :D

GLB are the posse ;)
