I wondered how much power does this thing eat up? Make sure you have a 1000W PSU.

Hardly - if that, as is apparently shown, is running off USB it's being fed 5Vdc @ 500mA which doesn't so much require a kilowatt PSU to feed it.

Power = v*I = 5 * 0.5 = 2.5W - which would take forever!

500W microwave takes 3-4mins!

but this is direct and it's right under your popcorn. But I reckon maybe giving the thing a 10min warm up time

and whats stopping you from unleashing more power and using 2 usb's OR using a harddrive power connector?

I reckon a cig lighter would be more useful for the smokers at LANs. That way I wouldn't have to duck for cover every time a lighters makes a low pass over my head.
