Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 missing!

Can't find the more recent thread so this one will have to do.
Fisherman found what he thought was an aircraft wing closer to the coast but other than that nothing really new.

Malaysia may renew search for MH370 nearly 10 years after it disappeared

Malaysia may renew the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the country’s transport minister said Sunday, as the 10th anniversary of its disappearance nears.

Flight MH370 became one of the world’s most puzzling aviation mysteries when it vanished with 239 aboard en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Despite the launch of the largest aviation search in history, virtually nothing of the aircraft has since been found.

But days ahead of the 10th anniversary, Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke vowed to “do everything possible to solve this mystery once and for all.”

“Meaningful changes have been made to prevent a repeat of this tragedy, but I am also clearly aware that the task remains incomplete,” Loke said at an event to mark the disappearance of the Boeing 777.
The US-based seabed exploration firm Ocean Infinity had made a “credible” new search proposal, Loke said, without providing details. The company has previously made two fruitless attempts at finding the plane.

“The Ministry of Transport are ready to invite Ocean Infinity to Malaysia to discuss the proposal of a no-find, no-fee proposal. We are waiting for Ocean Infinity to provide the suitable dates and I will meet them any time that they are ready to come to Malaysia,” Loke said.
He said he would do “everything possible” to get Cabinet approval for a new contract with Ocean Infinity.
“I am glad that there is some progress in some of the new research and new technologies, which have been put into place and we really hope that the search can find the plane,” Loke said.

i cant but help think a reverse search of sorts should be carried out - following the trail of debris washed up.
debris from the plane has been found at mossel bay, tanzania, madagacar, reunion and maurituis.

a few yrs back a catamaran built in cape town was being delivered to the far east.
it vanished and was lost somewhere approaching the west coast of australia.
years later it was spotted floating upside down by a cargo ship off mauritius.
it continued floating past madagascar towards south africa, then down the east coast of south africa until knysna, where a salvage company tried to retieve it, but somehow after traveling all that distance, it sank.

the debris path of the aircraft and the drift pattern of the yacht are near identical.
both seem to have vanished in a similar location, but years later started appearing at the same end points.

the pattern of sea currents between mauritius and west australia may reveal some more clues.

**just my theory

Even with the wind/drift modeling that they've already used you're talking such a huge area plus the depths involved you're still looking for a needle in a haystack. 3-4-5000m nothing will be easy.

That case about the wing that was mentioned in that 60 mins vid should be a not so expensive one to cross off the list tho, that boat wouldn't have been working deep water & no doubt had/has GPS co-ords.
Nothing I've seen would put that plane so close to the Aus coast tho. That data they've pulled from the Sat-C pings is going to be as good as it will get & it ain't close to the coast. Maybe it drifted there, who knows.

Worst case scenario, there could be no plane and it could just be pieces of debris in different parts of the ocean.

Aeroplanes hit the surface with far more speed than a boat and so are bound to split up into different pieces upon impact.

yea
probably no fuselage to be found anymore

Yeah, there are ways to do a safe landing on water to preserve the plane as much as possible but if the pilot was suicidal (which seems to be the most probable explanation for the plane's demise), he probably ended it in a destructive way.

It might be a better result in terms of discovering it's location. A single, in-tact fuselage could be missed but a debris field over a wide area might be easier to find.

That's how they initially found the Titanic, not by the wreck itself but from the debris field. But of course a single plane would have a far smaller debris field than something like the Titanic.

Airplane by suicidal pilot will splat. he ain't gonna put it down gently.
And if that was not the case and it sank.. different depths of the ocean flows different speed and even different directions. you on top like the boat will have some wind factor in there. Airplane under the water will go off by quite a few degrees.

yup, but most stuff in that debris field was heavy stuff that sunk, quite close to the ship. On the plane most stuff is light and will drift significantly different.
