It's a very sad state of affairs that South Africans are happy Malema has been dealt with and think everything in this country will be ok and go back to normal. The truth is that government and business haven't done enough to bridge the gap between rich and poor and they haven't done enough to fix the crumbling education system and they haven't done enough to create jobs. As long as there are poor people, there will always be Malema's, people who will use the poor for their own selfish and materialistic benefits. The country and all its citizens must work hard and work together to build this country. If inequality is narrowed and poverty significantly reduced then this country will be as prosperous and stable as the Scandinavian countries.

People who think that are very short-sighted. Malema is one of the many hurdles this country has faced and we're better off having him behind us.

Nobody said everything will magically be ok, we just wanted him gone. How can any progress be made with him still there? What do you suggest, keep Malema in the ANC, and hope that government and business will cooperate when there are talks of nationalisation, land grabs, coolies and kill the boer? Why would any business care about the plight of black people with racist comments like that?

I don't personally have a problem with people raising issues like nationalisation and land redistribution, but they need to do it in a diplomatic manner. Malema has been far too aggressive and racist to be taken seriously by non-blacks.

Malema is an a-hole and things can only get better without him.
Hopefully the Hawks kick his ass some more.

The country and all its citizens must work hard and work together to build this country.

Tell this to the poor followers of Malema.
They believe you can just demand and get sh*t for free.
They have no desire to do any work, let alone hard work.
They believe the f@cking fairies do all the work.
I can guarantee you most of the people who despise Malema already work damm hard.
It's because the dick Malema just wants to take everthing they worked HARD for that we hate the prick.
It's because of him that some skilled and hard working people are going to other countries to work hard there and make a life for themselves and their families, at least some fat pig won't take what they worked hard for.

If Malema and his ilk can fall in a big hole in the earth and never be seen again, South Africa would be a much beter place.

BS
The racist prick was creating racial divides, and only racists would not be celebrating his downfall.

I think that's my concern, you are only worried about his racist utterances and most probably dismiss everything else he has said even if there's a grain of truth there. I know he says things just to get standing ovations but some of the things he says are true.

True! But we shouldn't fool ourselves into believing that everything will be okay once Malema's gone. I personally choose to see his nationalization of mines policy as a wake up call to all of us to not forget that there are still poor people around us who will mindlessly follow anyone promising them economic freedom. We must try defeat Malema by finding a way to help the poor to help themselves somehow. I am not talking about freebies, I am talking about encouraging or motivating them to go out there and make a life for themselves.

Agreed! My concern though is that once the dust settles and Malema lives quietly in his R16 million mansion (in the bunker), South Africans will go back to the old habit of carrying on with life and pretending that we live in a stable country. My view is that this country is very unequal, and an unequal country is an unstable country. I personally find it despicable that the haves (people living in Sandton) and the have nots (people living in Alex) are neighbours. I was at the Zone in Rosebank the other day at Primi Piatti and people are spending hundreds of rands inside the restaurants but then a few steps away from the restaurants you witness people all over begging for money. This has become a norm and it shouldn't be.

We can play the blame game and blame the ANC or blame Apartheid but that doesn't help, we've been blaming and nothing has changed, in fact corruption is getting worse. We need to do something different, like joining an NGO that helps the poor. I don't like handouts, I like motivational talk and skills transfer.

Yep, a huge issue that you have raised is regarding skilled people living the country because of political uncertainty, and that is a big problem. I think Malema is powerful because there are just too many poor people in this country and they feel he is their Jesus. I believe that if we can drastically reduce poverty levels and bridge the gap between rich and poor, have and have nots, that the Malemas of this world will not be powerful. We have an opportunity to fix this country, the ANC DC has given us 5 years to fix some of the country's problems and I promise you that in 5 years time Malema will come back angrier and more powerful.

I'm sure that there's some things Hitler and Pol Pot said that are/were true, but that does not make them good or good for the nation.

It is time for the ANC to give the truth to their supporters. Most of the poor people in this country will die poor. There is no magic bullet to fix the situation. Only sustained development over a long period of time coupled with population control policies.

To think that malema actually said the following: "Having babies is a revolutionary thing. You must reproduce!"

Having lots of babies is this country's biggest problem.

Having lots of babies is this country's biggest problem.

People hate the idea but population control ( one/two child maximums ) needs to be implemented. How can we spawn like rabbits when families can't even afford one or two children? Morally I could never do that.

This is true, I do population ecology and our population is decreasing rapidly due to AIDS.
Birth rate is 19, death rate is 17... There's no decrease there.
Add immigration and our population is still growing pretty fast.

Have you bothered to read the link sigh. Secondly birth has nothing to do with death rate in terms of actual registered births.

"Yes sigh".

The birth rate is declining. However, it is still higher than the death rate, therefore the population is growing. Note that I was quoting someone stating a population DECREASE due to HIV. Not you.

Did you see the source?
CIA world factbook. And?
1) I don't think the CIA knows everything about everything - ESPECIALLY about people doing the limpopo triathlon...
2) Even if they did I don't think they'd tell you everything they knew ;)
Also, those numbers are believed accurate as of 1 Jan 2011 - so everything about 2011 is a projection :)

LOL, have you just brought the credibility of the CIA world fact book into question? Who insinuated that they know everything? So you think that an independent sources (CIA World factbook nonetheless) statistics are BS? Wow, there is just no pleasing our eternal skeptics is there. Since you are being so anal about 2011, how about 2010, was that an illusion LOL
