Mame ROMs sources

Hi guys, please assist me I am looking for website to download ROMs for Metal Slug etc...

Hey guys, Mame is something im very passionate about.:love:

If you want to download an entire collection, remember that Mame has many different romsets,so if you search for a Mame rom collection(prefix torrent)into a certain search engine take note of the version of mame you use as older romsets with newer mame/mame32 will be incompatible or many roms will not show up when you list the games through mame.

Make sure to get your rom collection from a romset that contains all of the Mame roms currently supported or available, otherwise you will end up in a situation where you download different versions of the same game to get compatibility with the version of mame you use.(Freakin nightmare when you have collected thousands of different rom sets!:twisted:)

How do you like your Mame?

My fave is still Mame Plus! with Kaillera for online gaming.:)

Demon, I am living the night mare!! I have downloaded ROM's and most of them aren't showing on the available list! How do I know before I download the rom that it will be compatible with my version(mame32u901)?

An easy way to keep your romsets updated with the latest version, is to use a Rom Manager like Romcenter. It will sort your current roms so that you can remove obsolete, incomplete, bad named and duplicate roms, and only download the ones that's missing. That way you don't have to download everything from scratch again with every new release.

I have full sets of all the Mame roms (no chd's), Daphne roms (laserdisk games like Dragons Lair, Space Ace etc.), Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. If you're in CT and interested, let me know and we can maybe make a plan.

Ha ha ha yes Ponder.;)

We want Sega Dreamcast roms,:twisted: All if possible!

OR People can wait approximately 2 years for me to download the entire library via 384 speeds...:erm:

@RVZ i once used CLRMAME PRO to sort my roms.

It sorted them out alright by deleting 800 mame roms(they were only incompatible with the newer mame.)

AND had the cheek to remove my N64, Snes and genesis and throw them into Mame rom collection.:cry:

All of this at the recommended auto setting!!!!!!!!!!

I will admit i knew very little about Mame then but am hesitant to try another rom sorting program.

But if you can vouch for Romcenter i reckon i will give it a bash.:)(backup first of course)

Right, off to stomp some regional kiddies online/hackers and psychopaths on Mario Kart DS WIFI.:D
You wont believe how active the regional Nintendo network still is.
 
I have an old mame32 disc which i put in the pc but cannot remember how to start the games. Do i install the file that says msdos (or something like that) or do I just "Install" it and figure the keyboard out? It's been a few yeas since I played it.
 
You need to run an emulator and then load the roms thru the emulator.

It will probably be called Mame32.exe

yes thats the name i was looking for. i did launch it through mame32.exe and got to the screen that shows the high scores etc but i don't know what to do after that.
 
press tab. that will bring up the setup for that rom, you should be able to see what the keys are from there.
 
Thanks Madman88, it worked perfectly. Wife is playing her favorite game now and falling off chairs and making a scene. she loves Loderunner.
