Mandela banknotes photos

At least all 11 languages are represented on the notes, which for me is totally worth it.

I must admit i like the new notes they are super cool!

I think the new notes are cool. Those who don't like them now will grow to like them later :). The first time I had a look at the notes I didn't like the picture of Mandela at all, I thought they could have done a better job. Now I think the picture is perfect.

They should keep “specimen” printed on the notes…

Sir that would be 25 Specimens… Yeah! Goodbye Rand.

:D

They don't look bad but the colour seems off or is that just the images?

Personally I'd prefer a more cultural and Big 5 theme than one single persons face on money.

It's been like that since 2005, when the current series was released. Coins have used the 11 languages since 1996, I think.

I would not know. I just know I prefer notes to coins. I hate coins. Also...I cant imagine paper costing more than a metal....but I dont know much about these kind of things. Just my preference I guess. :-)

I very seldom have money on me anyways....I always use my debit card.

Metal cost more than paper, but coins last MUCH longer. A note lasts about 2 to 3 years. Check the coins you have, there are plenty of early 90's coins still in circulation.

Very fitting that the release will be around Guy Fawkes day. Hung drawn and quartered is what our money is worth today. Certainly no honour to any man or beast to be depicted upon it. Just another failed and expensive political ploy abusing an icon, as far as it touches me. Now these are a different story, or the other side of a coin and in the same vein, they show just how trumped up values can be made to be...

Paper money used to be a guarantee and a promise to pay upon demand gold to the value of such note to the bearer. Now it's all just a load of bull shirt that shows just how trampled down values can be made to be. Seen so many changes of currency come and go, that it was only the other day i noticed my 2 cents was embedded in a R5 coin, black wildebeest and all.

I wish that there things could be politically neutral... just once.

A Big +1 on that sir. :(

I'm 50/50 on the new notes - they don't look too bad and new security features are great (sucks that we didn't do it like Canada though)
But yeah, keep people off our money, this is not North Korea!

And Afrikaans is just on the R10 note. Just shows.....

Have the notes on me at the moment. Standard bank seems to have filled all their atm's in JHB CBD with them. Look and feel like monopoly money imo
