personally i dont think he is anything more than a media personality. the fact that he came out of jail and didnt declare war on the whites is nothing fantastic, its just not what we've come to expect from african leaders. and really it would have been quite difficult considering the army and police were still white.
Oh please!!!! And what about any other leader in any other region of the world where we currently have political turmoil and ongoing fighting and civil war? So it is only an African problem?
And as for your comments about all the police and army being white.... have you ever had a look at the demographics of this country we live in? For your benefit and clearly needed education :
Ethnic groups: Black 79.5%, white 9.2%, Coloured 8.9%, Asian 2.5% (2006 est.)
he was a terrorist leader in "the struggle" something the apartheid museum makes a big noise about, but they mention nothing about the referendum which was the real reason apartheid ended.
And for what reason was a referendum held? Did the NP government wake up one morning and decide they were going to hold a referendum? I think not!!! And before you belittle what happened in this country and the greatness of it, and the man seen as being the symbol of this change (yes others where involved but every struggle/country has a leader), look at what is happening across the border in Zimbabwe and see what can happen when you attempt to switch control!
As I heard someone on radio say... not only has he done a lot... he is also 90 years old!! A great number for any person to reach. So have some respect!
