Which is normally how it works when you get pulled over.

I think people are misunderstanding the “don’t ask me why I’m pulling you over” to mean don’t ever ask. You’ll obviously find out why you’ve been pulled over once you’ve pulled over.

Fair enough.

Its also the fact that few people have had enjoyable interactions with our law enforcement. Our own minister of police believes he is above questioning in a forum.

I'm getting flashbacks of my little incident (sebenza SAPS) with the cops a few months back,
(wasnt constable khumalo, at least doesn't look like it)

same BS attitude, same arguments even, why are you stopped talking on the phone,
surprised he didn't say get out of the car, I'm arresting you,

also, he did ask for a license, the caption said he didn't, when he asked for that about 5 min in.
(just a technicality).

also, if the camera wasn't on, would have ended much worse,
would have probably been "arrested" like I was only for the cops to "ask" for a Bribe later on.

would love to hear what Wayne Minnar says about this officers conduct.

Hang on...

Aren't there literally 3 transgressions that were commited, some of which are serious enough for arrest.

Failure to display plates which each of which carries a fine

Failure to display License disc

Failure to stop when signalled by law enforcement

The last one obviously causing the greatest escalation, and the first bring grounds for arrest.

Nowhere in Aarto does it describe that you need to ask why before you stop.

The fact that he got off with no fine is a miracle, likely the officer didn't want to do the paperwork.

I've literally been stopped a few hundred metres from that same spot, and as an average reasonable person I stopped.

I also haven't been working in the motor trade for 12 years.

Maybe this is how he deals with the metro cops in PE, but in JHB and PTA you never know which special kind of person you're going to get. What saved him was the fact that he had the cameras rolling. If he didn't have that he'd be cuffed and dragged off of John Voster. Both of them could've handled it better but the cop came off a little bit of an ******* going off on his power trip.

I donno. I would like to think I would just ask what can we do to move past the perceived insult and conclude the issue.

Cop is a p03s for sure. He is acting extremely unprofessionally and emotional. I do agree that asking what I did wrong etc etc is not the way to go and maybe that's why the cop is going on this power trip but still - the cop saying "we give respect" blah blah went out the window the moment he started shouting.

No wonder people want to question everything these guys do!

Why not, I'm not even finished with the video but that cop is an arrogant arsehole. I will also ask what I did wrong if a pig pulls me over and I know I didn't do anything wrong. Fck him and his crap attitude.

There's no need to ask the cop why he pulled you over, he will tell you. If you get pulled over, just relax, sit back, wind your window down, and let the cop do all the talking. There's absolutely zero point in trying to argue with a cop. If you disagree with the fine then don't pay it and go argue with the prosecutor/magistrate. Trying to argue on the side of the road with a stressed out man with a gun is going to get you nowhere.

Maybe finish the video first to see what Marius has done wrong to warrant being pulled over...

Unless you want Wayne to wade into the attitude drama of the two guys there is nothing much to be said about the incident, both could have handled it much better as Marius himself admits.

I finished the video now, I still think the fat pig is a cnt fully deserving of a PK with a pitch fork. He is the professional in that situation and he immediately starts screaming a the motorist. Screw him and his God complex.

"Makes me feel like a child again", then proceeds just as the bmw slots behind him to put voet. In traffic. Then fails to stop.

Yes, the cop is a d oo s.

But it could also have been handled differently. Firstly, number plates isn't an optional accessory you put on the car when it's convenient. You drive, you have a licence plate on. If it "ruins your shot" you adjust your shot or affix them in a different way.

I have also learned that most of the time its easier to just say "my apologies, I didn't realise you were pulling me over" than arguing about what you thought was happening.

Now he's arguing about him not arguing with the cop.... when it comes to arguing with people who have power over you (or anyone really, especially people you won't ever see again), you really have to evaluate what winning or losing the argument will make any difference in your life. In this case, it will make no difference. Arguing is just working up the cop and wasting the driver's time.

Now the cop says that the driver should keep a safe following distance to see the headlights of the car behind him

None of which (except maybe the last one) was given by the cop as the reason why he pulled him over.
In fact he started with non-display of plates. The whole tirade was because Marius dared to ask why.

Exactly. So you can’t be asking”why are you pulling me over” as if they had no reason to pull you over.
you can it its your right to ask. He refused to answer because he has a problem with Maruis asking - the officer clearly has no idea on actual rights or the law.

- a simple I suspect something fishy the way you were driving or you have no number plate So many answers - instead he carried on like Cartman about his Authorutay

Like i said I got pulled over and asked the same question - the office was polite and explained his reasons - my questioning it was acceptable and his reasons were as well.

We all know that 50% of metro and police are on a power trip with a chip on their shoulders. 50% Of them do not have an IQ to count to 10, so arguing will get you nowhere. The story of playing chess with a pigeon comes to mind, it will just knock the pieces over and crap on the board, does not matter if you are winning.

Just stop, listen to what they want, get a fine, whatever, and be on your way.

You didn’t ask him through the window in traffic. You asked him after you pulled over.
