Marvel's Black Panther Movie

Don't know what is the big hype..all marvel movies are now becoming the same..boring!!!!..all the same thing!
 
Just saw the movie. It was pretty good, right up there with the other good marvel movies.

Don't get the political stuff surrounding the movie. It shows an Africa that only exists in fiction. Sure, the other comic movies are also fictions, but their depictions of the west and everyday people and life are still normal.

I do get though how people are calling this the first black superhero movie. Sure, we've had other superheroes played by black actors, but, for example, you can replace Wesley Snipes' Blade with Ed Sheeran and it would be the same movie. BP was pretty unique.
 
I saw the movie. Its standard Marvel stuff, full of action, some gags, beautiful CGI etc. Regarding the fact that people see this as significant from a black action hero perspective, of course it is, and it does it well. Fun movie, but those people who are making it out to be more then just another marvel movie are probably taking it too far.

What I don’t get is why when they realise they need to help other African people, the first place they go to is the USA!!! They should really have gone to another African country.
 
The movie started at 1117hrs credits started to roll at 1319hrs but the movie is 2hr20mins according to wikipedia and imdb. Did SK rob us ? or 18 minutes are just credits ?
 
I enjoyed the movie. It's understandable why the movie is so important to the black community so I don't get why all those "anti-sjws" lost their minds.

There is a mid-credit scene and a post-credit scene. Add that to the time of the credits themselves and you probably get to the right time.

Why would this movie be important to black people? It's pure fiction.

A movie like 12 Years A Slave is probably more significant and awoke a lot of anger towards the colonisers.

Mark your calendars, box office nerds: Saturday, April 7 is the day Black Panther became the third-biggest movie in U.S. box office history.

It's not exactly a surprise. Marvel's latest toppled Jurassic World earlier in the week to claim the #4 position on the all-time domestic box office charts. That left it roughly $7 million behind the third-place record holder, James Cameron's Titanic.

We predicted at the time that Black Panther would ascend to #3 in the coming days, and now, here we are. With an estimated $659.2 million in domestic ticket sales after Friday night, the movie would have to spontaneously disappear from all theaters everywhere to finish Saturday without beating Titanic's $659.4 million.

It's about role models and creating heroes that people can relate to. Kids especially need to be able to imagine themselves as the hero of the story. Stories also provide a context for kids to understand how they fit in to the world and the social structures of a culture. In the past, the heroes were generally portrayed as white, all American boys (or men), while girls were portrayed as the damsel in distress who needed to be saved. People of colour existed on the periphery, maybe as a sidekick if they were lucky. When kids see these movies (or read books or hear stories) they put themselves in the place of the characters and learn about the world that way and how they fit in and they role play these various scenarios. Having strong women of colour being the heroes of the story provides a new kind of role model for children (and adults) to relate and aspire to.

Isn't there a [-]bit[/-] fair amount of irony involved in having a Hollywood movie of all places generate role models for you while you peddle your failed Afro-centric ideologies?
