Maserati MC20

Maserati MCXtrema

The official name MCXtrema is reminiscent of the Maserati MC20 base model - the "first of its kind", a super sports car entirely made in Italy that has marked the beginning of the brand's new era. It also pays homage to the strong legacy of Maserati Corse, along with the concept of the extreme, which recalls the superlative soul of this outstanding four-wheeled marvel.

The concept behind this unique product is the idea of unleashing a true racing "beast", something different and disruptive compared with anything that has ever been done before. A car designed to impress and to ignite passion for extreme racing with its fine design and mind-blowing performance.

MCXtrema is the brand's new creation that expresses the essence of Maserati Corse; a car raring to take up Maserati's many sporting success and proud tradition in the racing world. A project conceived to ignite passion on the world's most exhilarating bends, which have seen the likes of world-famous racing champions.

The result of a desire for success, advanced engineering and innovation, with a focus on speed, elegance, style, and luxury, it showcases Maserati's unmatched engine power, bold design and exceptional capabilities.

Maserati MCXtrema follows on from the glorious MC12's on-track experience. The baton is now being passed to an awe-inspiring new car, developed for a highly select target audience and geared towards ultimate, over-the-top performance and the excitement that only a perfect combination of mechanics and design can deliver.

Maserati MC20 Notte Edition

Maserati introduced MC20 Notte, the first limited edition of its super sports car MC20, born to race on the track and bred to perform on the road. MC20 Notte Edition celebrates the daring spirit that has always propelled the Trident forward, from the day that Maserati first competed in one of the most legendary races ever.

The MC20, marking the Trident's return to its supercar roots and combining sportiness and luxury, now becomes closer to its racing soul with Notte Edition, an exclusive run of 50 units globally whose design is sparked by the mystical and intense power of darkness. A roaring creature, conceived to seduce, and aesthetically enhance its already extraordinary V6 Nettuno engine-powered performance.

Drawing inspiration from the mesmerizing racing world, Maserati Fuoriserie team collaborated with Andrea Bertolini, Maserati reference driver and former GT1 world champion with the Trident, to develop the Maserati MC20 Notte bodywork. Its exterior turns from a glossy black shade to a magnetic matte 'nero essenza' hue ready to glow in the dark thanks to 'the Midas touch' of track predator Bertolini turning the details - the Trident, the side logos and the Maserati signature - from silver to matte white gold, reigniting the brand's glorious motorsport memories.

Maserati has revealed a glow-in-the-dark version of its MC20 supercar

Limited to just 50 examples, the ‘Notte’ is the first custom MC20 with new paint and even more Alcantara

Maserati has released its first special edition MC20 supercar inspired by a ‘dark’ theme featuring - perhaps brilliantly - a glow-in-the-dark paintjob.

Dubbed the ‘Notte’ and restricted to just 50 units, the new-look consists of a gloss black exterior which shifts into a magnetic matte called ‘Nero Ezzenza’ in darker settings. Maserati says this paint scheme is luminescent; TopGear.com says this paint scheme is particularly useful if you live in a rural area and the electricity suddenly cuts out.

The side logos and Maserati badging will also follow suit and transform from silver to matte white gold to reference its racing heritage. The 20-inch ‘birdcage’ alloys and brake callipers are also blacked out and supplemented by white and gold accents.

The cabin has also seen a refresh and given even more fancy Alcantara leather than it already had, including across the black and grey sports seats with yellow stitching and the semi-carbon steering wheel. A unique model number out of 50 is also present between the headrests.

Maserati has confirmed the all-electric MC20 Folgore will arrive in 2025

Back in 2020 Maserati promised us this would be a tri-motor, 700bhp+ supercar. We can’t wait…

Maserati has announced that its all-electric MC20 Folgore will finally arrive next year. Big news in the small world of EV supercars.

In a recent statement, Maserati confirmed the GranCabrio Folgore will launch this year, followed by the MC20 Folgore in 2025. A while back, the MC20’s ‘model responsible’, Luigi Sciarretta, told TG the electric MC20 would use three electric motors to send over 700bhp to all four wheels. Whether that means it’ll have the same setup as the GranTurismo Folgore (which makes 750bhp) remains to be seen, but we were promised 0-62mph in two seconds and a maximum of 100kg in extra weight over the petrol car.

Impressive. But then again, we were also promised that it would arrive by 2022...

Anyway, elsewhere in Maser's plan, a new all-electric large SUV (presumably based on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform) will arrive in 2027 and an electric Quattroporte in 2028. Hurrah, the four-door lives on!
