So far Cool Ideas has been awesome. one of the few isps that actually almost feel unaffected. Everything still works 100% on my side.

I have 2 clients on cool ideas, that only experienced Office 365 issues.
I experienced the same over an Axxess line, as well as Vodacom MPLS.
I think it's more a Microsoft issue than anything else.
If other services rely on MS lime DNS, and go down, then ofcourse it will affect your internet access.

The lesson should be, cloud is not as safe and secure as the corporations advertise. They want to make money, not provide value

Even more so now with all their ads baked into their operation system and apps.
It's time to shift from MicroShit to some Linux flavours.
At least all the laptops will be faster since there will be no more data processing for the "cloud" at our cost.

Why so many all at once, are they all close together?

Every single one the cables running alongside the West Coast of Africa is vulnerable to damage caused by underwater landslides that occur in the Congo Basin. (The exception would be the 2Africa cable, but that project is still unfinished!)

Abidjan is not far from the edges of the Congo Basin, so that could explain why several cable services went down at once, once again.

For instance I couldn't swipe a local credit card at a local merchant using a local credit processor somehow because ... some terror group halfway across the world has beef with the US and decided to cut a few cables under the ocean?

Nope!

It's because you had no signal at that location!

good to know but speedtest does not show the full picture. Anyway at home I'm on CISP 100% fine so far. But at work we on WebSquad and internet is not 100% fine.

Still having issues today. Internet is in slow mode since around 9am. Youtube not loading etc. On Vodacom internet. If it's due to cable breaks, looks like we'll have crappy internet for a while.
