Matrix Warehouse/ Rektron Warning

If you do get a new GPU, take your "new" PSU back to matrix and get a refund, then do some homework and buy the right PSU.

PS: they cant give you a used card as a warranty replacement, ask for a modern equivalent.

I have also had bad experience with this Matrix but a different branch. A few years ago I urgently needed a new hard drive, boot drive had failed, they were the only computer shop close, and they had the cheek to try and sell me a refurbished drive as a new drive. This branch closed not too long after.

Unfortunately there are very few decent computer shops in South Africa, that actually employ people that know what they are doing, and when it seems to come to gaming systems, most don't know or care enough

I did not defraud anyone, I went to Matrix warehouse who flat out refused that the fact that they sold me a below spec psu could have caused damage and told me to claim on warranty, at which point did I commit fraud? Please tell me because you are sitting with a nice case of defamation of character biena.

bwahahaha...what a joke.

Matrix shouldn't exist in my opinion. They don't even know what a 3-pin fan power to 4 pin molex connector was. I phoned like 4 stores and no one knew what it was. Anyway, it is very strange though that Rectron didn't send you a new GPU? Even if they didn't have stock of that specific card they should have still replaced it with a modern equivalent as Rickster said. I would be raging at them over that.

They will always send the card to the supplier, I had a similar issue with a EVGA card, had to be sent back to JHB, then it had to be tested, and then they had to apply to EVGA in Germany for a replacement. The RMA/Warrantee system in SA is poor compared to Europe and the USA.

You have 53 630 posts...that is a joke to me, don't have a life?

53 thousand posts, true story..

Sad Story...

It isn't really THAT many seeing as he's been on the forum for 8 years. Simple math will tell you he posts about 18 times a day since he started. Not THAT much

If I were you I would call Rectron directly and speak to them about the replacement. I find it hard to believe that they would be sending out a second hand/refurbished replacement as this is not something that they do.

They will be able to track the card by the serial number and I have a feeling that you will find out the card was not a replacement from them at all.

Agreed. But hey, third world country, what can you do?! Would be awesome if big computer brands would set up manufacturing plants in SA to distribute their products across Africa. We would get WAAAAY cheaper PC parts and RMA processes would be super smooth!

As long as it is relevant, yes.

103908 posts!? wtf!? are you retired or something?

/insert relevant comment about wtf, 83 amps is OBVIOUSLY not more than 26 amps or whatever it was. It's a maths quirk, like mickeyD's post count.

Are you still using the new power supply? If so the card was probably working fine until your PSU nuked it as well, as demonstrated it's nowhere near powerful enough to run that card...

As for them sending you a secondhand card did you try, I dunno, phoning them before throwing a hissy fit?

Cut Rektron some slack, it's your POS PSU blowing up the cards, go **** on Matrix.

How does one prove the new PSU blew the graphics card?

I have a RX-730ss, think it's the same PSU as OP
It has dual rails, 24A + 24A

The requirements for Op's card is 46A (650W PSU minimum)

Sorry but the PSU is spot on with the specs required, that's if you didn't get a faulty one.
