I am in CT and my exchange still handles a max of 4mbps, is this still quite common? I thought all exchanges were being upgraded.

Don't wish for it. 4mbps exchanges seem to be doing better these days.

Been speedtesting my adsl these couple of weeks, 0.01mbps on peak times (6pm - 11pm)

Max is 3.6mbps

Yes, I'm on the "10mbps" profile :(

A lot of exchanges are being upgraded but I don't know how to tell how you will know. Mine can do VDSL now, I'm in Walmer Estate and on a 4mbps line which flies all day everyday.

4meg max in Monte Vista as well, I found out today. I've been spoilt with 10m for the last 2 years...

Telkom hasn't even rolled out full speed ADSL2+ (up to 20Mbps) but are going ahead with VDSL2 and now trialling FTTH!

At our office in Century City we have had 20Mbps VDSL since we moved there Nov 2013.
Max stable sync was 33Mbps but Telkom will only set to 20 or 40 profile so we stuck at 20.

At home in Camps Bay exchange only went to 10Mbps in 2012 I think. No MSAN's in sight so think it's going to be a while before VDSL arrives.

No need to roll out 20Mbps ADSL when there have VDSL. VDSL is more stable at higher speeds.
