I have a 128Kbs contract with Sentech. The Maximum Connections Speed is set to 115.2Kbs. I have changed the setting to the next higest setting of 921.6Kbs. Difference is that I seem to get more bandwidth with the latter option. On my XP Task Manager, Networking Tab the max I get with the 115.2Kbs setting is 100% and with the 921.6Kbs is 26% OR 239.6Kbs.

Questions: Is it recommended to change this setting?
I subsequently changed the setting back to 115.2Kbs.

I don't think it has any effect. 115200 bps is only used on RS232 serial coms. The USB connection to the modem was fixed in the USB standard. The wireless connection will have a speed dictated to by the tower.

The windows component that handles the modem connection (RAS) was designed specifically for serial RS232 modems, and gives you those options as legacy options.

Incedently, you do not need to use the SenTech dialer. You can just type "rasdial sentech name password" and "rasdial sentech /disconnect", which is great for automated scripts, and power users.

Thanx nroets,

I did it the "dummies" way dragged the sentech connection shortcut into startup. But thanks for the commandline syntax - much appreciated.
