I don't trust anything said or done by DA. Sanral is a corporation that builds and maintains toll roads that are self funded and builds and maintains non-toll roads that are funded by transfers from the department of transport. There's no link to the fuel levy which is just a petrol tax aimed at increasing government coffers, it's like a different kind of VAT. What DA is saying can't be trusted because it's false.

You would rather trust an organisation that's keeping secrets than the DA???

Paying the company that did the roads or paying the company that collects the tolls ?
Remember that even if they are the same company they are not.

My guess is that SANRAL is keeping it all in their own wallet for as long as possible. ;)

Sanral used peoples pension contribution to build the GFIP, it's only fair if we pay back this money. Be a model citizen Gary, go buy an e-tag. Being against e-tolls is being against the livelihood of pensioners.

Fark that... SANRAL could have quite easily used MY money to build the highways.
But the fact that MY money has been stolen or misspent somewhere else is not really my problem.
I already paid for the highways, I've been paying for them since I started paying taxes in 1995.
The poor pensioners need to take their problem up with the PIC directly.

There's a problem right there...

Bwahahaha, but you trust what the ANC and Sanral are saying? Wow, you must be very special.

Edit: Let me reiterate, I have no problem paying for the roads through the fuel levy if the funds are ring-fenced. I have a massive problem paying for the roads through the most inefficient toll collection system in the world.

How long is the fuel levy going to last .........???
There comes a point where the price of fuel becomes impossible
Rand / Dollar / Brent Crude / Spot Market

Rather ask why we are NOT getting crude from Angola and Nigeria at DISCOUNT ?

The biggest threat to the fuel levy is alternate fuel cars in the future, as well as increasingly efficient petrol cars.

Throw a 1% VAT on everything and call it a transport tax. Scrap etolls, scrap fuel levies.

Or staunch the bleeding of billions per year out of our economy through maladministration and corruption

Sasol is able to make fuel from coal, but they are restricted by law in the quantity that they are allowed to make. If that restriction is lifted South Africa can be self-sufficient on energy requirements.

Please name this law that limits Sasol oil production, I want to check it out if it exists.

That's not the problem. The problem is that sasol can charge import parity pricing.

The ANC has already committed you to the eToll. Weather you fight it or not the country will have to pay the company that holds that contract.

So like I said... pay now or pay later.

Civil disobedience can be an ugly thing...

With e-tolls you are not paying now only. You will be paying forever!

Ever heard of a toll road becoming a non-toll road?

Everyone agrees that the 'upgrades' must be paid for. Paying with a system of 70% overheads are not acceptable. The cANCer can come suck my d!ck.

Dude you'll catch every known disease including ebolaids if you let them do that

Yup, they sell fuel to SA at the OPEC linked rate. Nice business to have. This is due to the fact that the fuel price is regulated in SA fro some reason.
