May the iPhone be with you

Whats the restrictions like drm and all the nonsense?
Already it sounds like the sms story might be and issue.

Rather get an iPod Touch and a decent phone. The Touch is basically the same as the iPhone just without the phone part, and by the sounds of it the phone capabilities on the iPhone aren't great so you aren't missing out on much.
I can't fault my iPod Touch on anything, its awesome ;)

The phone can be brought in the States for less then R2000. It comes network locked.

However the previous version of the phone's software has a bug in it where one could hack the phone. So a mate brought the phone, set the firmware a version back, downloaded the hack and then software to take off the network lock. After this he updated to the latest firmware and now he has a working one for next to nothing :)

AT & T have the offer, hence the network lock... do some research :D

Why do you have to buy it from Wantitall?

Hmmm. I dunno. I had a [-]post[/-] thread a while ago about wanting to buy one. And the general consensus was that I had to buy it from them, if I wanted it here in SA...

The phone's software connects to AT&T at which stage you pay for a contract. They basically subsidise because they expect you to be locked into their network, hence the price. You don't have to do this, not even sure you could from SA, to unlock the phone :D

Edit: A second phone is in the process of being unlocked.
