Mbeki asked to step down

I'd disagree, his lack of action and total disinterest in the country is exactly why things are the way they are. I'm pretty sure that in Zimbabwe they used that same line :p I think that this little bit of friction is exactly what we needed, else it would we a case of SSDD for the next 100 years.

Let's hope that the oppositions don't sit on their asses, this is a very good opportunity for them to cash in.

Watch TV, Aunty Helen and Tannie Patricia are already politicking!

Could this be for the reason of early elections?

If they ahve early elections, JZ wins, becomes president. Reshuffles cabinet with his supporters.

Who is then going to prosecute him?

Any merit in this idea?

Looks to me that the way is paved for Kgalema to be Acting President until the elections next year (1d)

However, it appears that if the Speaker becomes President the National Assembly must elect a President from amongst their members within 30 days.

I assume Motlanthe is a member?

As it is they can't even prosecute him now.

Keep in mind that the Mbeki supporters may not be too thrilled about voting for the ANC any time soon ;)

which will then be kgalema given he has a higher rank within the anc.

so if there is an election is it an election only for anc people or does the whole country vote. can a person then vote for lets say aunty helen or tannie patricia and break the anc hold on the country?

I assume as a member of cabinet you are a member of the national assembly.

early national election

I stand by my statement, this was a coup and that tosser judge was the reason for it.

The judge followed the law. Tbone and his friends lined themselves up against a wall and asked to be shot.

Its amazing that tbone conspired his own "downfall/coup" WTF, someone should teach him how to play chess or something.

Wow, twenty years since the National Party asked PW Botha to resign because the pace of reform in the Nation was not fast enough. Now the ANC asks Mbeki to resign for similar reasons. Except now we are going to see "the pace of reform" at a breakneck speed.

ok so then it is possible for the anc to be voted out and maybe the da to be voted in, although it will never happen i would guess.

Well theoretically. But it won't happen, but we can hope there will be divisions within the ANC giving us three big parties - even if the DA is number 3, I will be happy. Or the possibility of breaking the 2/3 majority the ANC has in parliament.
