I find it very puzzling how you on countless times see yourself as not being a racist, yet you cannot stand white people, even though you call it..uhm..justified hate because of apartheid

More likely the reason was that the government were gtting paranoid about what they perceived as groups of Afikaners with guns. In this case, a very effective group that have not been equalled in the farm crime-fighting cause.
 
Ive never heard of white people hijacking cars? Ive never heard of white people burgling people's houses, or gangraping a woman. The majority of crimes are commited by blacks - but if i say that, according to the president I am racist? I also agree with comments that have been made about the extremely violent crimes being carried out, and the vast number of rapes in the country - the 'apartheid legacy' has nothing to do with that.

Why is there always finger pointing from the goverment to anyone who complains about crime? That does not make ANY sense at all. We should be pointing fingers at them, and asking WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?

And why is it that we have the highest rape and murder IN THE ENTIRE WORLD and members of the forum brush it off like 'yea crime is a problem' but they are 'working on it'. Saying it like its a minor inconvenience - like its raining outside.

The ANC has proven that when it actually wants to do something - it gets it done... PERIOD. Ive been to the SARS offices and its first world, cutting edge, super efficient. Things work - its clean - it can be compared to countries in Europe. SARS and the traffic department are so on the ball. They have support from goverment - and you can visibly see that these deparments work. Things are implemented quickly, and it runs smooth.

How long have we been complaining about crime now? How long has crime been a MAJOR issue. How long do they need to sort their sh*t out?

In my mind then, they dont want to tackle crime. They want to rather keep the media and anyone who complains about crime quiet. And keeping quiet - while the country rots - is one of the worst things we can do.

That's is f>cking dumbass logic. Typical. What's makes you think that all whites are 'brought up to think that most black men are criminals?' That is twisting reality. Let me correct you:

Six crimes were committed against me personally or against my family in a whole for as long as I could remember. Let's say ten years. Five of that crimes I saw that it was one or more BLACK men that committed the crime with my own eyes. One of the six I don't know. I will never know and it doesn't matter really. I have reason to believe that all crimes in the future that will be committed against me in this country will be black people, no? I think I do. If I get robbed by a white person I have reason to believe that only 1/6 of future crimes will be committed by white people against me. Do I have reason to believe that all black are criminals? I don't think I do. I don't believe that.

And the morale of your proud stories, The citizen have to do the governments job as the are to slack and unable to do it. If the woman got killed in her action You would be the first one to state here it is her fault and what she did was stupid and foolish, which by the way is correct.

Some people's stupidity in what they say in their posts really takes the cake.

Mbeki like you is always on the race card to justify his incompetence and stupidity.

The question is WHY are they so prone to crime?

It's an interesting question and I hope we can discuss it like civil people and not let this thread degenerate like many others that have done so in the past.

Personally, I think it's because of a combination of lack of (proper high quality) education and extreme poverty. I don't consider sitting in a run down classroom with half broken chairs in front of teachers that are not qualified to do their jobs as a quality education. As an example, I read somewhere that one of the Asian countries (can't remember which one now, think it was Korea) has a high school graduation rate of close to 100%. And the students that leave school are so well rounded and ambitious that when you look at them you see that crime is not something that they'd resort to in a hurry, now THAT'S what a good education does to you. It prepares you for the real world and gives you the confidence to actually go for your goals in life and not sit on the sidelines like many of the South African kids that think that crime will get them through life.

Governments role in improving the quality of life of less fortunate South Africans has been discussed to death so I'm not even gonna touch on that topic.
 
This is a really easy brain teaser to solve and it helps to gain perspective if you just ask yourself two questions. Since 1994 and the new Rainbow Nation:

1. How many whites have been savagedly attacked and murdered, raped, shot etc etc by blacks (how many 100000's/Millions?)
2. How many blacks have been savagedly attacked and murdered, raped, shot etc etc by whites (how many 100? 200? 1000?)

Every single white person in SA has a crime horror story even multiple stories, family member that has been butchered, friend that has emmigrated etc. 9999999999,999999999999999% of these stories are from the last thirteen years and who are the perps in 99999999999,9999999999999999% of the cases ????? are they black?

DUH...its really that simple!!!!
 
I have one question to any posters of colour on this thread.

I would really like to know what you would like me to do, as a white man, to make things better for all in this country?

Hell, all I want to do is raise my kids in a safe environment, work my @ss off so that I can one day grow old and live to have my grand children around to spoil.

Don't black people want that too? To live without fear? To not worry about your family when you goto work or turn off the lights at night?

Yes apartheid was wrong. Yes there are still too many black people living below the poverty line.

But as stated before, the black middle class is growing, the stats show a 30% increase in 2006! And in reply to a previous post, no, I am not afraid of the growing black middle class. In my opinion, violent crime will decrease with the decrease in poverty, making it safer for us all.

In closing, do not look at me with contempt, I paid for the life I have. I do not look up at the rich and envy them because they had more opportunities than I ever had. I do not look at old school friends, driving their fancy cars, and think 'Daddy paid for your education / Gave you a job in his company'. I am grateful for what I have, because I worked hard for it.

Dude as honourable as your attitude sounds/is, its just not very realistic since you are part of a very small percentile minority. This is the real world. If you don't try to be one up over the next guy you'll eventually end up at the bottom of the heap. There's no such thing as win win here (maybe it exists in the EU or US but not here)...this is Africa.

I know it sounds negative or fatalistic but to be serious, I see a load of weakness in the lets all be nice and get along train of thinking and also it makes me think if that if a lot of us applied it that others will prey on us even more.

I myself am carrying the scars of trying to be a goodie two-shoes rainbow nation friendly guy, only to get robbed (two home invasion robberies), have my wife have a gun pointed at her and mugged twice, got hijacked (two attempts), have my car stolen (once), be overlooked for promotion (all of last decade), been excluded from interviews for jobs etc etc oh yeah and the latest is getting pushed and shoved in cues...yep by the majority (you know who) those who will cough in your face, spit on your shoes and laugh at you etc and lastly just pray to god your car never stops on a free-way or you need medical help like from a heart-attack in a public place (its a death sentence if you need help here).

That's why I am so hard and fast myself and don't give a cr@p about anyone else anymore except my wife and kids. As soon as I can I'm outta here..and if I can't, my kids will be!

This country is so over, there's little hope!!

Yes - the violence is puzzling. I think it has to do with their history. I mean think of Shaka killing 10-20 people a day in peacetime by having them impaled ass-first on stakes. Really all quite savage! Europeans have had a lot more time to be civilised. And Josef Mengele and Irma Griese were really blacks who had demelanizing treatments. Pol Pot too. And Steve Biko and the Cradock Four amongst many others died of natural causes actually - forget what you might have been told to the contrary. And there was no soap provided to prisoners in John Vorster Square, so they didn't really slip and die. And the SADF and Koevoet boys were very kind to captured freedom fighters - even gave them tea! And we never did "township camps" in the 70's and 80's, so we could not have gone around cracking skulls in the middle of the night looking for freedom fighters. And Dr Death should really be called Dr Life! And we treat our farm workers so well - it was all lies about Mark Scott-Crossley feeding his labourer to the lions. After all, we are civilised and don't do violence. The violence is very puzzling, as I said.
