Looking to buy a new laptop... seems like mecer is crazy value for money compared to some other makes... So i want to know!

Decent laptops or crappy??!

Tell me about me about your experiences good and especially bad :p

You can get awesome Samsung, HP and Dell laptops for really good prices. Why go with a relatively unpopular notebook brand? Game and Makro regularly have awesome notebook specials for Samsung for around R4000.

Dell. Good warranty, support and build quality. You will also be able to troubleshoot (read Google) many problems yourself because their models are more widely distributed worldwide.

While Mecer is not my preferred brand, these days there is nothing much wrong with them and they can be good value.

I have one client that only uses Mecer hardware - servers, laptops and desktops. They have about 50 laptops and i have only had issues with 2 in the last 18 months. One with a hard drive failure out of warranty and one with a failed motherboard in warranty, that was repaired by Mustek within 24 hours.
Their quality has definately improved in the last few years in my opinion.

Currently using one. Playing games, programming and no problems... :)

FYI my father and sister have the exact same laptop, one has an HP lable and one a Mecer. Laptops are manufactured and then branded for the different companies, like HP, Asus etc.

So you actually need look at the specific hardware and compare. Also touch it and see if its comfortable.

At the moment I think that Toshiba make some great machines.
