Mechanical keyboard

How loud are these keyboards? I would assume that everyone would go for the brown switches as it is more quiet?
Razer has different keys. They have green keys (which is essentially Cherry Blue) that make click noises and then they have orange keys on their Stealth range (which is essentially Cherry Brown). I took the plunge with the Razer keyboard and will try it out.

no i got the g710+ (brown)
but have used the razer chroma (green) and i loved the sound of it

if clicking will make u irritated, get brown there a nice balance

I'm getting the K90 in a couple of days. Very excited, but I think I like the design of the K70 more.

RBG Is a better build without the "60-day" fail, not sure how true this is for the k90s but numerous k70s apparently dies within 60 day and then there is the led failing... O well see how far my k70 rgb goes :D

Ok so just a small update. Had my keyboard for 4 months and I have 6 dead LED's. Reading up online many keyboards have this issue. I'm back to my g15 and man it's terrible  I loved the mechanical feel so was thinking of just getting a cooler master quickfire xt tomorrow so I have at least something while Rebeltech is exchanging my rapid-i. I also want one for work anyway so I'm not really just buying one cause i can't wait although that is one of the main reasons.

To be honest another thing is the lighting modes is a bunch of bs cause I never used it. The only thing I used was individual lighting but all of the other funcy modes i never actually used. For now I prefer a non backlit mechanical keyboard like the Steelseries 6gv2 or the Cooler master quickfire XT. i bet you it's because of the crap made in china LED's. I can't understand why they use durable mechanical switches only to cheap out on the LED's.

I got a Razer Ultimate Chroma... It feels alright, but the build quality is totally meh. Cheap plastic, stains easily and quickly, even the switches aren't always consistent. I think Corsair aluminium may be better than this plastic.

Yeah but I checked this video of the cooler master quick fire xt and it looks like very good quality

Also what about this. I know it's backlit but it's a good price http://www.firstshop.co.za/gigabyte-aivia-osmium-mechanical-GK-OSMIUM-BRN-p-28524

i almost bought a mechanical keyboard, but gaming on an ancient core2duo machine myself, I thought i`d save that for last

They`re selling a steelseries keyboard at BT games that resembles the old IBM`s buckling spring keyboard, But they wouldn`t let me open the box. The description on the box doesn`t say bucling spring or cherry MX, So I don`t know if it`s any good.

Yep it's pretty sad how they cheaped out with the new ones, the original Blackwidow was built like a tank. Weighed as much as one too. Although it did attract even more fingerprints, being glossy.

G710+ still going like a champ here - black switches so no 'click' sound.

Very happy with this keyboard :D

Must say, I can't see myself ever going back to a non-mechanical :o

It comes with cherry mx black. So no tactile feedback and that's a bad thing. Maybe I was just unlucky with my Rapid-I but having a non backlit keyboard helps to eliminate another point of failure

Still jamming happily on my Das keyboard. Amazon ships here in under 1 week ( Though prices are a bit high with the ZAR/USD.. )

That's amazing. I can't help feeling that I might just have a bad product just like many other electronic devices but What I read online there's a lot of issues with mechanical keyboard but you get millions of keyboards over the world where 1K of them is a small percentage. So maybe i'm just unlucky. I'm mostly pissed at the time I have to be without my mechanical keyboard and go back to my crappy g15.

Yesterday after going back to my g15 I'm having a really bad time. I can sometimes feel my keys not registering properly. I don't think it's to do with not having NKRO support but to do with my g15 being faulty. I only noticed this now after switching back to my g15 after using my Rapid-I for so long. This is the main reason why I'm looking for a cheap mechanical keyboard I can use while my other Rapid-I is going in for swapout and according to rebeltech it can take 7-10+ work days so it will only happen next week and for me that plays games every night I can't Wait that long. I want something ASAP. I know I'm a bit impatient but that's how I am. So I was thinking of getting a cooler master quickfire xt as it's non backlit so I can at least rule out one point of failure

The quickfire series from CM is awesome. I have the quickfire rapid, love it. Nothing fancy, but does the job very well for a good price (should cost around 1.5-1.7k in SA).

PS the build quality is amazing. Mine went through a fair bit of abuse, still works like new after 1 year.

So i have the following in mind that i want to get.

Corsair strafe

Cooler master quickfire XT

Cooler master comes with no backlight and that alone makes me lean towards that. But the corsair is cheaper.
