So I am planning to buy one of these this weekend with a 1TB Internal Hard-Drive to put in it. However I cannot decide which one I should get?

I'm also planning on buying one this coming week. I'm gonna go for the Mede8er.
 
I bought the PlayonHD this week. I was a bit dissapointed in the gui when I started playing around on it, but then again all these media players have more or less the same default gui.

Last night I installed the YAMJ Jukebox option, now it looks really cool. It downloads all the movie posters and info, as well as the tv series posters and info. No major issue so far, plays everything flawlessly. I'm also streaming all my tv series through wifi from my pc, works great.

Overall I'm glad I went for the Playon instead of the Mede8er. Don't know of anything on the Mede8er that would justify spending a couple of hundred rands more.
 
If you aren't price sensitive, go for the popcorn hour c-200
 
bought one last week and i cant tell you how happy i am with the playonHD i don't know the Mede8er but i can honestly say i dont know what else i would need and why i should pay the extra for the Mede8er
 
Geez - too many of these threads man - just look around Lino ;)

I've got a serious hankering for the POHD this weekend.
 
My PlayOn! is arriving today ! I chose because of price... I don't see much extra
Will give my feeback after this weekend
 
AFAIK, the playon does not have a hi-def gui, unlike the mede8er. Can someone with a playon comment on the GUI quality on a 1080p panel?

I'm very impressed with the GUI (latest firmware loaded though which did improve the GUI)
 
Going to order the Playon HD with 1TB hard-drive and the wireless kit
 
Well done, it is ordered. I went for Playon as I can get all the bells and whistles for the same price as a basic Mede8er. For me that made it a much simpler decision.

If I could add three cents :)

I hear a lot of the talk about the GUI, and rightly so, but in reality how much time do you spend looking at the GUI? In essence this unit is meant to play your movies, music and images. It should be more about that media and less about the look....

Besides the look can be changed over time...

The world may end but I have to agree with Lance on this. Seriously I am not going to end up paying R1000 more so that I can have a prettier GUI.
