They added recording of internet radio to the PlayonHD via the latest firmware.... perhaps with luck PVR functionality will be added down the line. With the DVR in their stable it is something they are clearly capable of doing.

Lance any idea what the latest firmware is? My device has been delayed but it is arriving this evening. Should I set it up and then immediately update the firmware?

I'd play with it for a little while first to see what the old firmware looks like and then change

The firmware does not affect any of your movies etc so you don't have to be worried about loading all your movies and then losing them all when updating the firmware.

As far as I am aware neither do. You need to manually do it using YAMJ.

Yeah, mede8er also works through YAMJ .... setup & run from PC.

By manually I do mean by pointing it in the direction of your movie folder and pressing a button!

Yeah but u need the about.jpg in the folder right? The players dont physically connect to IMDB ?

The players don't, as stated earlier, YAMJ does. You just need to ensure your movies/series are named correctly.

No. You run the YAMJ from the pc, but that then does everything else. You don't need to do anything seperate on the device itself.

How are they going to add PVR when they don't have an input mechanism ?

There's still a plan to bring "full" YAMJ to Mede8er with a FW update at some point in the near future, but for now, this works great

Life of PlayonHD Player Day 1:

1) Installed the 1TB Hard-Drive
2) Connected it all up, tested it first of all by playing an mp3 from a flash drive. (Works without any issues)
3) Copied some movies from an external hard-drive to the device.
4) Couldn't get the wireless to work, even though I entered the correct SSID, the WPA key etc. It just never seems to connect for some odd reason?
5) Updated the firmware to the latest version, WOW the overall GUI looks better and the system is more responsive.

Does the Mede8or or Playon HD play .mkv files, I got a ton on my computer and external harddrive but watching on a 13" screen kind off takes the edge off.
