From the leaflet on their website, they have:

Mede8er + 500gig drive = R2799
Mede8er + 1 tb drive = R3499
Mede8er + 2 tb drive = R4499

Where's the "attractive" part in those deals?

lol, yeah not that attractive in fact. Dion wired has always been expensive.

Harddrives are so cheap lately, they should sell it without the drive. You can buy an Xtremer or Playon HD for just over R1500, with a 500gb drive.

Ja, you can still get a Mede8er with a 2 Tb drive for around R3600 or less from Esquire.

Unfortunately if you spent time on that forum you'd note that Hi-jack's preference seems to change on a weekly basis. With most of these media players it boils down to firmware and this is a constantly changing thing. One may be better than another, then a firmware update results in the lead changing.

If we quote his entire comment you will also see that price affected his decision... now he was basing it on the prices he was able to get it at... here the Playon beats the Mede8er.

Thanks to it's price of €150 it made the top position over DViCo and thanks to it's more mature options and package in general including NFS and Samba, it made it on top of the Xtreamer as well.

The hardware for both these units is pretty much the same.

If you have a look through the forum you will notice that the mede8er is always highly rated, even in his current signature the mede8er is mentioned.

All i want in the end is to know that the unit i buy will have some support left in it, the way the ACRyan DVR users complain about lack of support is worrying.

I am probably going to buy the ACRyan and wireless dongle and then i can compare it like for like with my mede8er.
 
Does Esquire sell the wireless dongle for these two players?
