Hi all,

I use a program called TVersity Media Server to stream digital media to my XBOX and tablet. Now there's something strange going on with my network. When I connect via WiFi to my router with the laptop (acts as the server), my devices pick up TVersity just fine and I can stream. But whenever I connect my laptop through a wired connection, it does not show up on my XBOX or any other devices?

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

  • Are the IP address ranges you get different in any way ?
  • When connected to the 2 different networks, is the Network Location / Type the same ?
Verify the IP addresses handed out by your router when connected to the different interfaces - if they are in different ranges that might be your issue. ie 10.0.0.x vs 192.168.0.x

When the LAN is connected, make sure that the network profile is set to the same profile as on wireless (this has been a issue for some sharing / security and uPnP for me)

Hi Anthro,

It gives me the exact same IP address with both interfaces. Both are also in the Home Network profile.

Turned it off. Nothing. This seems to have happened right after I switched routers, so it must be a router issue. Does anyone know of a setting that needs to be changed perhaps?

EDIT: Using the Telkom DuoPlus 300wr Router

Old router was a Belkin Broadband one. I switched to DSL recently so currently I'm using Telkom's DuoPlus 300wr. I don't have the Belkin anymore so can't test it. Just don't understand why it would work perfectly fine on wireless but not on wired.

I can maybe try assist you after work over Teamviewer if you want ?
It's a bit difficult to see if not logged into the router, can PM me - then we Skype or something :)
