Get a Roku 4.

IMO with Roku not getting onboard with Android it is a dead platform.

Amazon and Apple can stick it out because they have unlimited budget and huge consumer bases.
Roku is a walled garden backed by a small company, it just won't be able to compete with Android.

Good choice.

Only issue is that it's a Litbox rip and should cost less.
R1100 is fair imo

Update: First impressions of the ematic tv box

While we are waiting for fibre to be installed tomorrow, I managed to set up the ematic tv box using my wife's phone as a hotspot. Set up was relatively easy and simple. The remote comes with dedicated YouTube and Netflix and Playstore buttons for quick access, so that's pretty nifty. So far I'm very impressed with this ematic tv box. Definitely makes my TV screen look more sleek. Plugged my speakers into the av 'slot' on the TV box and found a noticeable better quality in sound from the TV. Not sure if I'm just hearing things but Ja.. For me it sounds more crisp

You could have saved a few hundred rands if you waited a day :)

LOL true hey. But I would have had to wait for shipping and didn't really want to wait. So it's all good. I am impressed with the ematic tv box so far. I hope it will serve us well. I am not sure if there are any known issues regarding this tv box though. I hope there won't be

I fully understand with regards to the waiting. I've had two LIT boxes and currently I have a Ematic that my mother uses. Zero issues with any of them.

I've been looking for a replacement of my MyGica and T95 players. Both of them stopped playing Netflix after a year because they can't update to a new version. The MyGica was a bad buy - the interface is awkward and you can't operate netflix and youtube without using the mouse and it would not start up sometimes.

So I'm in the market for a new player and I don't want to make a mistake again - can someone vouch for the viability of this new ematic brand? Thank you very much!

Get one, you won't be disappointed. Say goodbye to sideloading and clunky interfaces for good.

Thanks for the feedback - was just worried it might become another "abandonware" after a year.

So I eventually got myself an ematic media box from macro today to replace the shirtty intelly box for my lounge tv.

The ematic is as simple as my other mi box.

Plug and play.

Not much difference between them, except the ematic has the added bonus of a dedicated ethernet port.

I see you get 2 ematic models, a ultra one R1400 and a HD one R2000. Which one do you use

I have the Apple 4K tv... I don’t regret it and would highly recommend it.

I had a mygica which as everyone says does not work anymore. Highly annoyed by that..

Apple TV always gets updates, added a vpn service and able to watch Hulu+Disney and American Netflix and I stream my movies from a home server. The 4K hardware always me to stream 60GB UHD H.265 movies with a smile..

yes it’s expensive but I truly believe it’s well worth it and I won’t even bother considering another tv box.

Waiting to see if I can get a second one for my older TV in bedroom.
