I have it at home, just didn't have dotnet 3. so will have to install tonight.

This is the best media center you can have....customisations on it is sick!!!
i'm using it with my MC remote and works like a charm...just drop in a series and it will download all the info and pics...
Same for movies...also running youtube plugin,weather....
Just got a plugin to download all the latest trailers in HD so before i watch a movie i check out a few trialers LOL
Just like in the movies.

I was thinking of going the linux route as well, see there are several media centres available, just not sure which would be best.

Been trying to get it installed on my home pc for a while now.

Only have a 3g connection and not willing to waste bandwidth on this.

Been trying the download only option for about a day now to get all the stuff it needs to install.

It downloads most of it, fails then deletes whatever it has already downloaded.

The installer sucks.

I downloaded the installer but during the install it does a check to see if you have all the other software needed to run mediaportal (wmp22, dx9 aug 2008 redist e.t.c.).
I tried doing the "download now for installing later" option about 3 times.
Each time it would fail on either wmp11 (or after I installed this manually it failes on an sql download).

Once it fails it deletes all the downloaded files, if I copy these somewhere else the paste them back into the folder it deletes and re downloads them all again.
tried various ways all with the same result.

Also manually installing the software did not help. It insisted on downloading it again.

I finally lugged my box to work to do the updates here but once done it will not let me use my tv card, it recognises it just won't let me use dv/composite and does not search RF.

Long story short? I'll leave the install on the pc for messing around with another day but after all the schlep to just get it installed I am going to wait till I am less irritated by the process thus far.
