Medunsa protests

Doesn't matter a whit. In the real world if you get your degree from a higher education facility that is perceived as producing low quality graduates, then you have less chance of getting a job than the graduate from a university that is perceived as being highly rated .
You can scream and shout and jump up and down until you are blue in the face about how unjust it is that you are not treated equally... the real world doesn't give a schidt.
... top graduates from top universities get top posts ... fact
The highlighted part is the key word in your paragraph. Anyway why would my face turn blue? I am not looking for a job comrade lol

Anyway why is everyone so hell bent on what the students are doing and ignoring why they are doing it and the steps they took before then to solve it? LEARN TO GET THE FULL STORY BEFORE PASSING JUDGEMENT. Im sure some of you had the same mentality to people who were throwing petrol bombs at the police during apartheid because its in your blood.

When all else fails pull out the race card ;)

Because, quite simply, restricting the movement of others, intimidating others, destroying property and such like are not how civilised protests are carried out.

You lot have no right to bar entrance and movement.
You lot have no right to intimidate anyone with violent behaviour.
You lot don't have to shell out tax money to repair what you destroy. We do. The same tax money that provides your cheap Govt. loans for which you lot seem most ungrateful.

Well there is alot of prejudice in this thread so why blame me?
I was just trying to come down with a logical explanation for it. maybe you can help me come up with a better reason. It will be much appreciated

You realise that you're probably the most racist ****wit here, right?

Okay who said I dont pay tax? I used to be a student and i know what these students are complaining about. I commend their bravery to stand up against it.

They used violence and intimidation, they lost any sympathy for their plight the second they did that.

I referred to these students, the rabble protesting at Medunsa, and lumped you in for the sake of argument as you are defending them here.

If you are happy as a taxpayer to fund the repairs and replacements required after this unruly rampage, good for you. I am not. These students do not realise just how privileged they are.

Based on my personal experience, i would personally fund the repairs if i had the money. That's how terrible the situation they are dealing with is. 1st hand experience here

But they don't need it. Like you said. Grades speak loader than anything.

So they should go and study and stop burning stuff.

Well that is noble of you, and gives credence to some of their complaints, to me anyway.

But do you condone the intimidation and the destruction of property? If so, why not get them some rockets they can fire into the town centre at a busy time, or plant a bomb in the local Wimpy, or blow up a Magoo's bar or two?

Absolutely not. But in my experience, peaceful demonstrations don't work in such situations. atleast in my limited experience anyway. There was once a strike at TUT sosha(2008 i think) and the students protested for more than 20 days without any word from VC and chancellor. Imagine having to make up for that time after

MEDUNSA CLOSED

Students at Medunsa in Ga-Rankuwa were ordered to vacate the premises on Wednesday following a decision to close the institution.

"[The] university's vice chancellor Prof Mahlo Mokgalong, in consultation with the executive management committee, decided to close Medunsa and dissolve the campus SRC [Students Representative Council]," said spokesman Kgalema Mohuba in a statement.

This meant the academic programme was suspended indefinitely.

He said the decision was informed by the stubborn behaviour of both the SRC and student community.

The university management would take full responsibility for SRC affairs.

"Therefore the dissolved campus SRC would not have any legitimacy to represent the students."

Mohuba said the university had patiently accommodated the students in an attempt to find a resolution to their list of demands.

"Unfortunately, the SRC displayed to be negligent of the laws of the country. Hence they resorted to anarchy and blatant criminality including the act of arson."

In numerous meetings the SRC had showed no intentions of ending their strike.

Mohuba said students had been protesting for about two weeks and had submitted a list of demands to the university management.

"We responded to them a couple of times. As we respond their demands keep increasing."

On Thursday, there were reports that students had set a car and the main gate alight at the campus.
