Mega 100WR Web interface - dead, nothing, nada

My net gear router/modem has been struck by lightning.
I found an Mega 100wr in a box on the shelf when i had my line installed 2007
Brand new. broke the seal.
Problem:when i type in my user and pass the screen that follows is not the web interface page but a "web page that cannot be displayed" page
Its like the web interface is not working at all.
when i run the cdrom setup it stops at the section where it piks up the router but yet
i get the log on page
i can ping it
i can connect via wireless or lan.
BUT I CANT GET INTO IT!
to add insult to injuries... just found another one (105)
DOES excactly the same bluddy thing!

Any Help will be appreciated...bar buying another router.
 
is the network settings on router and pc set up propally to see each other and have you tried resetting router by putting pin in hole in back of the router

and are you using windows 7 or vista
 
Please explain properly. if i can ping it and i get the web log on page ... isn't that correct already?
PC IP 10.0.0.9
Ip Router 10.0.0.2
ping 100%
type 10.0.0.2 in search bar in explorer
ask my username and password
admin
admin.
then nothing
" internet Explorer can not display web Page"
is what come up nothing like user or password incorrect!
 
yes.... i do... no dont tell me.. is thatthe problem ..how do i fix?
 
It is bitdefender blocking it. I had the exact same problem.
You got 2009 or 2010 installed? And internet security or what?
I experienced it with 2009, 2010 is fine.

Solution: Disable... either http scanning or IM scanning. I cant remember which. Just open up advanced settings, disable http scanning, IM scanning, and if that doesnt work all the others. Apply. Test. If it works, just start re-enabling settings. Apply. Test. Till you find the offending setting

Anti Virus Tab
Custom level Button.
Scan Http Traffic (was unchecked)(dnt know if correct one)
Cant find the IM thing anywhere!
 
Have a look around, it should be there. Otherwise set it to the permissive level, under the anti virus tab. See if that works

I took real time scanner off and voila .. i'm in


haha great! I knew that the human is the master!!!!
Thanks guys so how to i keep it like that ..should i just keep real time off or what?
 
Its got to do with the IM scanning. So unless you can disable that setting, just do what you are currently doing. Or upgrade to 2010. That gives no hassles
