Hi Guys, first post, so please have mercy.

My parent's router is a Mega 105WR they are on a 4Meg line with telkom and use MWEB uncapped as ISP:sick: (terrible, I'm going to switch them over to a capped afrihost ASAP). All the PCs in the house seem to lose connection to the internet simultaneously every few hours. Sometimes you just can't reach external websites, sometimes you can't even enter the router setup (10.0.0.2). The same also happens when someone makes a phonecall.

The only solution is to reset the router and wait for the, seemingly infinite, boot up sequence.

I've called Telkom to check the line, they couldn't find a problem (very helpfull and it took me more than a hour)
I sometimes connect with my afrihost cap, using pppoe and bridging the router, I have not experienced the same problem operating this setup, but I don't use it often enough to make that a definate claim

I couldn't find a similar problem anywhere on the forum, but I can't imagine I'm the only one experiencing this, seeing how many people have this modem.

I would appreciate any help from all the brilliant minds on mybroadband:D

He He how old is that thing ??
Did not know people still used those things
Time for a new modem surely .

As above that router is old (must be over 10 years old by now), time for a change.
My folks had the same router for years and worked fine, but they had problems recently with the wifi it became so bad it literally only worked in the room the router was, and was so freaking slow.
Just bought a new router sorted everything

Haha, how time flies, feels like we got it yesterday!

Thanks for the advice guys!

I'm guessing telkom won't give me a new one and i'll haveto buy?

I know its off topic, but any recommendations?

Find a TP-LINK that fits your needs

Wow. I didn't think anyone would still have a working one of those. I remember the 105 we got had firmware issues which made it impossible to change the wifi password from the stock one.
