Im the 'not so proud' host to a viral meningitis colony. Its pretty ouch. On the upside lumber punches (not sure if thats even spelt remotely right) have become way less painful since the last one I took 15 years ago. Anyone had this virus infection kick you in the ass? How long did it take you to recover?

Lumbar punctures.

This one didnt hurt at all actually. I just felt the small prick as it went in (oooh.. I hope that does not get taken out of context....).
I remember the first one I got being very very painful and nurses held me down, this one was a "sit up"....*small prick* 10 second delay... and it was over.
I was so freaked out by my previous experienced ... I was not expecting how painless this was.

Thank ****. A lumbar puncture was always one of those medical procedures that I was freaked out about ever having to have. If they've improved the tech now, it's a lot less scary.

Hope you get better soon wiz. Had me my last lumber puncture about 2 years ago and it was as painful as what I'd expect giving birth to a horse out of your back would be. Hate the fscking things - next doc who brings a needle anywhere near my back will find out what the inside of horse's anus actually looks like, first hand...

I had meningitis many moons ago when I was 13 years old. Was in hospital and out of action for approx. 2 - 3 weeks. Don't think it was viral meningitis though. It was the deadly kind.

I thought viral was the evil one. You can treat bacterial infections with antibiotics. Virii are more tenacious.

Bacterial one is the worse of the two.
I had it too when I was a kid, and/or meningitis. Used to literally bang my head against the wall to ease the pain. It was ****ing terrible....
