I love the Mercedes. It looks meaner and cooler than the Audi.

I go for looks in cars so disregarding any specs I would take the Mercedes!

Ok, so go do this. Test drive both cars and then go to an Alfa dealer. Test drive the QV Giulietta, proceed to fall in love and buy one with 15k on the clock and R70k off the price.

Beautiful car, relatively unique, great service plan, more powerful than either A3 or A class for the same money. Don't listen to the haters. The Giuliettas are reliable. My friends brand new one series has been in more times than my Giulietta.

A3 FTW!
it is the original premium hatch, so they've had plenty of years in that game!

Now there's a better idea! Giulietta FTW

You better love it because you'll never be able to sell it again ;)

Oh the dreaded resale value. Lets just say you buy any of those 3 you are going to have deal with the fact it would only be worth the price of a vivo once you're done with it. I noticed that BMW have this buy back plan which to me seems silly because you're then locked into buying BMW with a very expensive payout.

I saw the new A3 in person the other day...It looks so much better than in the pictures.

Apart from the 250 the other A class engines are a bit lackluster compared to the A3 line

35% devaluation in 5 years, and an easy sell. Definitely worth much more than a Vivo.

Saw the new A-Class at Gateway a few weeks back, awesome looking car with some very nice features but boot space is very limited and rear seating is for children only.

A3 Sportback is a much more practical car IMO

The fact that Audi are not bringing the 2.0TDi whereas Merc has a 220CDi will play a big factor when I replace my current A3 2.0TDi.

Also, bear in mind that the Merc has a lot more kit in the base price whereas you will need to spend a few thousand to kit the A3 to a same spec.

You talk about autos. 120D Steptronic 5-door is R360k, so you should compare to A220 CDI @ R355k... Not true?
