You talk about autos. 120D Steptronic 5-door is R360k, so you should compare to A220 CDI @ R355k... Not true?
Yes, thanks for noticing.

The A180CDI vs 1.6TDI is a fair comparison however. Pity, as you said, that there is no 2.0 TDI.
Yep, but buyers have to be careful: the 180CDi manual has a Renault 1.5 engine while the 180CDi auto has a Mercedes 1.8 engine.
Colleague in the market pointed that out to the Merc salesman, who was shocked that someone had actually done his research before handing over money!
It is a pity Audi has such a poor after sales service record
Yes. I would not buy the manual.
Are Renault engines that bad?
Don't forget the Volvo V40. For around R340K you can get the D3 6-sp geartronic which pushes out 110kw/350Nm.

R300k+ for a car ... sheez, the wifey can keep her old A-Class for a few more years!
I would not want a Mercedes with a Renault engine. Would you? Not saying it is bad, but a Merc engine is obviously better.
So basically it's an inferior engine?
I wonder where you experienced this "poor after sales service", i've never had such from any of the Audi dealerships i've been to. You just had some bad luck, they got the best after sale service i've come across since i've been buying cars...i've owned a Merc, BMW and a VW.
That's the spirit. Just remember that goes for you as well.I'll wait a few years and she can drive a 2nd hand german beaut!![]()
