Merc A-Class VS Audi A3 Sportback

The thing with Audi interiors is they way the dashboard is laid out. Makes me feel like I am driving a 1980's Pontiac Trans-Am fitted with a computer system called KITT.

Something isn't lekker with you Roux.

The audi has been out classed. Its no longer the best looking, its the most boring to drive, its got the most boring interior. Eish...... (bmw vs Audi vs merc)

I second that. Never liked DSG but in an A4 its particularly boring when you have DSG. Give me 7G tronic instead anytime.

Most of the lower end A4's have Multitronic, which is CVT. These must be the "boring" ones you refer to. Though I would not call the 1.8T Multitronic boring... S-tronic boxes in the more powerful models are actually awesome. I do prefer Mercs however...

I don't like multitronic/cvt because if feels sluggish. I'd take DSG because it's seamless and instantaneous.

Why is DSG more boring than 7G tronic?

Why would anyone looking for excitement buy an auto in any event?

In fact boring is exactly what you want from an auto.

I don't know why CVT gets so much hate. I've tested the A4 1.8T Multitronic and liked it. I also eventually bought a vehicle with a CVT box. Took some getting used to, but it's definitely not sluggish, or as whiny as most motoring journalists describe it. Also, you don't get more seamless than CVT. Manual mode is also available, for when you feel like changing gears.

i agree.. auto is boring as watching paint dry!
BUT- i'd still get one for my next car for sure! GP Driver-biased..

By sluggish I mean when you jump on the go faster pedal. And I don't mean they're slow, just slower to react. Not saying it's bad. It's not something I prefer. Have driven a CVT and it's very smooth, but I enjoy something that has a clutch (or two) more. :) The 7G tronic is also very good, but again I'd take a DSG/clutch car.
