Have you ever owned a car and sold it? Other than that, not to be arrogant, but I couldn't afford the time at work, nor wanted to go through the hassle, for the difference in cash potentially obtainable via a private sale. A dealer will also get a higher price as they have to offer a 6 month CPA cover...

Anyway, not sure how my story is full of holes seeing as it is consistent with what I said previously (although it does seem you struggle with things like reading properly). And some of us don't want the hassle of selling privately, and as indicated in my first post, I hadn't realised by just how much they would gouge me. The car needed about R10k work and I had estimated they would sell it for R140k; guess I was a bit off.

And I drive past them most days depending on traffic and which route i am taking to work - so dropping off the service book later to discover the car had already been sold wasnt much of an issue....

So you saw what they advertised it at, and you know it was sold. You don't, however, actually know what it sold for. They could easily have let it go for R15 000 or more less than the advertised price.

No, I went there to drop off the service book and asked them what they sold it for. If you read properly, you will see I went there after the car was sold. But, if you don't believe me; just phone Reeds N1 (at N1 City, Cape Town) and ask them how much they sold the silver 2006 OPC+ for (late October/early November if I recall correctly).

Meh, Reeds screwed me over on a Corsa B. Gave me R40k for it and sold it for R60k. I would not put that beyond them. Frank Vos GM on the other hand went out of their way to help me and treat me like a very special buyer deapite the fact I that I bought the oldest car they had for sale. Makes you think...
 
I did answer the question in my first post here. Mercedes Benz. It is the pinnacle of all things automotive.

3 years is way too short. Try a decade+. If you want good resale on a VAG then get a Porsche. A VAG collecting buddy of mine got fed up with the losses he made on A8s, RS4s and other Audis. Got a Boxster S and the trade in value holds well.
