Mercedes CLA

Part of our dealership is delivering them by the bucket load - a great deal smaller than I originally thought, but with plenty of room inside - nice car if you are into Mercs.

a friend took delivery of his CLA 45AMG today, Jupiter Red, matte black rims
It is a EPIC looking car, and it goes like the clappers!

for R700k +... i would sure as hell hope it goes like hell!

I saw it at JIMS this year and it looked very nice indeed.. some reviews of it though say the handling is a big let down..

The AMG and top end ones look good. Today I saw what looked like the entry level one and it looked super crap.

Aaai, I'm jealous. If I had the money I would get one - just based on the pics I have seen. Although a few reads of tests would be in order. I have read a couple on the normal CLA and they do have a go at the hard ride (for a merc I think) and then the pricing is also a bit obscene.

A BMW 316i costs R440,000 new.
Heard that on the radio this morning & couldn't believe it. Pay half a mil for a car with a 1.6 on the back...I think not. (Yes I know...doesn't say 1.6 on it). I'd expect something more like a 325i for that price range (would prob have to be a demo).

316i SedanR 350,936.40 incl. VAT andR 1,436.40 CO2 Tax
That's the base price, so R440k is with a few extras :)

wait...what now? I'd rather buy a Porsche.

I think list price is R674k? And that's for a 2.0 liter turbo with 265KWs that will destroy any Porsche you can get for R100k more...

Oh please...

A Porsche is a piece of art...a Merc is a classy car.

Oh please...

Porsche is a car you buy and are forced to resell through dealership to keep warranty. What I'm trying to say is, that a Porsche in this country does not keep it's value like "a piece of art". But looking at how Mercs keep their resale value....

Anyway, this car still destroys any Porsche of even mildly equivalent value.

If you're looking at a Porsche through the lens of "resale value" then you have things fundamentally back-to-front my friend.

That being said, I like both brands...they both have specific models that are just plain glorious.

I'm not following you? Care to expand?

Porches are not meant to be resold, you buy a potch because it's an investment Into a beautiful motorcar, that being said you never buy a merc to keep through the ages like you would a porch...
