Mercedes CLA

Which is one thing I have to say I appreciate about VW group dealers. Options are per item rather than packaged so you know exactly what you are getting unlike with BMW and Merc who love their optional equipment lines and style packages.

:) But to be fair, even with small option list like in the VW Golf, you still get Mobile device interface option for R850. But it does not cost R850 because it "Compels Composition Media radio" which is another R3,200 - R4,200. :D

Audi also does the same. Front sports seats - For S models is only R2 440 but it "Forces Alcantara / leather combination or Milano leather at additional cost of R 9 300. :D and then Alcantara / leather combination - Forces Storage and luggage compartment package for another additional cost of R 1 870

Yep that it does. You make a very good point, but at least they point it out directly underneath rather than beneath 10 reference layers :D

In my opinion though if someone actually buys a Golf 7 without the added bluetooth, SD card, CD player and larger screen that constitutes the composition media option they just wasted a good opportunity. Same goes for getting any of these C-Segment hatches without Xenons and DLR, they just make the cars look so much better!

Yep, even most VW dealers will buy Golf 7 with those options and sell it as a demo.

The way this thread is going you might as well wait for the M235i.

I still don't understand BMW

They take a 3-Series - 2 doors = 4-Series + 2 Doors = 4-Series GC that looks like a 3-Series
Now they going to take a 2-Series + 2 Doors = 2-Series GC that looks like a 3-Series :D

I can understand the 6-Series because it actually looks different to a 5-Series. This 4-Series name is stupid.

Because according to their roadmap, they plan to release 22 new models by end 2014.

so much for the mercedes . . . .

this was a text book example of derailment - right off the tracks & down the embankment crashing into the sleepy village below :D

Just like the Mercedes that plunged off Chapman's peak.

Because for that specific scenario I was trying to say that for the same money as the A45 you have many more options which can easily be as fast or faster. Since some people buying the A45 would buy it with the motive of being the fastest on the road, one can argue that they can get more bang for buck from a modified car. But honestly, if an older guy buys one of these it's for bragging rights and he can afford it, so he could possibly take the hit from having to fix some of the problems that may arise from an out of warranty car.

If it's a young laaitjie buying it as his first car after college with a huge balloon payment, then that isn't going to end well in any situation so the previous point is moot in this case.

But regardless, even a normal S3 is "almost as fast", just like the M135. If the S3 were boosted up to throwing out the same numbers as an A45 I have no doubt it would run circles around it.

I don't get why people compare modded cars to stock cars?

"Modded S3 almost as fast as A45..."

Point taken.
Although I don't think you get stock S3 or stock GTis on our roads these days.
Even if they look stock you can hear the intake or the downpipe.
If 90% of these cars are modified, is it still fair to compare the stock car?

Slightly Offtopic but seeing more GLA's without the must-have LED's. What gives?

If you paid that much for the vehicle pay that few k extra & get the full look.

Maybe people are stretching themselves so thin to get the car as it is, that they can't afford the extra few K for them?

Or they just buy the car as is new, with no options because of ignorance. Then when it shows up with plain headlights they get confused and learn about what extra equipment is..

Doubtful, they try upsell the optional extras quite hard on a vehicle like this.

I can't find LED lights on their options list, but they have an "Intelligent light system" or something similar which seems to be a R13500 optional extra, which might explain why people don't take it.
