Meta Quest 3 local availability

Just FYI if anyone experiences payment issues.
So I've been struggling to buy apps/games for my Meta Quest 3. When I try to add my credit card or PayPal account I get a generic error message. I tried Meta support and also contacted my bank and neither were able to help.
What eventually worked for me was to create a new Meta account on another email address(DO NOT link it to any Facebook account). It's best to do this in a Private/Incognito tab or a different browser so that it doesn't interfere with your original Meta account.
Then from the new Meta account add the credit card or PayPal account. Gift any apps/games to your original account.

Haven't had payment issues nor had to jump through any hoops to buy stuff on the Meta store... Well, not so far.

FYI Cheaper off Amazon.co.uk, got mine on Friday
Payment Grand Total: ZAR 11,680.31

So Amazon.co.uk doesn't have ZAR currency support for me for some reason. Did your order come to about 510 pounds with shipping and customs?

I'm quite liking the headset so far.

Did extensive research on every aspect of it before ordering, and keeping up to date with comments and issues.

Got the 128Gb Quest 3
Ordered the recommended router: TP-Link Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 AX5400 ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09VPTT9GY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details )
Bought Virtual desktop (meta gift card through amazon to avoid giving meta card details)

Set up the router as the following:

And voila, smooth wireless gameplay. [Especially take note of the channel - should be (DFS)]
Strength Low. It's 4-6 meter away with direct line of sight.

Out of the box it's a stutterfest without the above changes.

With the above settings I'm standing outside under the canopy, through metal blinds and windows, without stutter/lag. Great when it's humid inside and a cool breeze at night outside.

I've been doing the PC VR wirelessly (using both Airlink and Virtual Desktop interchangably) with my Quest 2 for a while, and still doing it now it with the Quest 3 - I have a deco system in the house and although most people say that doesn't work, it usually does just fine for me. Recently I've improved it by using an ethernet backhaul between my main deco and one of the satellite units in my VR Room which is probably 10-15m away, with no direct line of sight. It works just as well as being in the same room as the main router \ deco. I have a spare WIFI 6 router lying around which I did set up as a dedicated AP specifically for the Quest - wired to the main router - but it barely made any difference, so I'll probably just keep using the deco setup as it is currently.

Why do they say Deco's don't work, which ones do you have?

Deco M4. Not sure why they think it doesn't work, just saw a few posts on Reddit and a few other forums where people claimed meshes don't work well for them. Maybe in those cases they had too much WIFI interference or they weren't using ethernet backhaul between units.
Most people seem to think you need a dedicated wifi6 AP for your Quest headset, in the same room as your Internet router.

Assassin's Creed Nexus is out and it has glowing reviews. I'm pretty sure I'll be picking this one up soon.

Edit -- I have a referral code that will give you 25% off this game, let me know if you want it. :)

How did you manage to get the gift card redeemed? I also bought a gift card from Amazon but eventually gave up to get it redeemed. When I try to claim it just gives and error message. I've tried connecting to a VPN located in the USA, but it just complained about the IP being blocked when I try to claim it.
If you are able to claim it then maybe you can try the code out for me :)

Just pushed the button on 512GB version at Amazon, also added the BINBOK head strap with battery. 15k all in (did have $50 credit I see).

I had to log in on the meta website on PC with US VPN enabled, then go to the redeem meta page.
Only there it worked. On the phone app it doesn't even show the credit at all. Then again on the PC webpage I could spend the credit.
Quite weird - like two systems at play. (Their Oculus PC store app is known to be shite though and shows old games - apparently it's been mostly abandoned, so I think that's got something to do with it).

This is the giftcard I purchased:
(I bought a few of them to get VD for family members as well)

If you really don't come right and can't claim it I can give it a shot if you like and see how to refund you if it works.

Why not just use a virtual credit card for the Quest store? Mine works. It's a lot less hassle compared to VPNs and gift cards.

AC Nexus is surprisingly good, I am noticing occasional micro stutters though, as if assets are loading. And still would of liked a pc version. Some paintings have higher quality textures than others. Some are just a blurry mess and kills the immersion. Lot of identical twins having conversations with each other.
Looking at some objects and being in some rooms feel like you are playing on a pc, like looking at some of the furniture and picking up a really detailed crown. It's pretty damn impressive what they've achieved.

It feels like you are in AC2, in the start of the game.
PS. Buy it with a referral. it's $30 then.

First time buying from Amazon. Before I buy I want to make sure about a few things - When you buy from USA, will this device be fully compatible in South Africa? Or do you need adaptor/converters?
Also no region restrictions?

It works fine, you just need a US to EU power adapter like these which are cheap and sold everywhere in SA. Also bear in mind that all games and apps you buy will be priced in US dollars so somewhat expensive compared to buying games on Steam for example.

Ordered mine on 24 Nov at amazon UK and the expected delivery date is 1 Dec which is pretty quick. Also ordered some silicon face covers for the hot summer.

I find the silicon face cover awful to use.
The time until it feels uncomfortable to me is the second it touches my face. One can remove and wash the default insert.

Waiting for a better thirdparty one to hit the market. I only use the silicon one when showcasing the headset to folks as it's easy to clean after they used it.

What cover did you buy? I bought a cheap 3rd party cover like this one. Every time I play beat saber I'm sweating like crazy after playing for a few minutes
