Referencing this thread, I have still not managed to get the WiFi on the ONT turned off. I just need to know one thing definitively before I give up and learn to live with it or pursue it further: is it possible for MetroFibre to configure the ONT to turn off WiFi?

Hi guys I am having issues with my fibre it is active but I still haven't got to use it because the Pon light keeps blinking, metro techs will come fix the problem but after couple hours it starts to blink again 2 different tech came and same result

Morning all

I received an email from Afrihost this morning saying that MetroFibre have noted me to scheduling and I should expect a call from them soon. Does anyone have an idea of when they could be? I'd like to get my ONT this week before their freeze period that starts Friday

I got my email on Friday, though for Openserve, and received a call about 2 hours after the email. Though Metro is a bit slow on the admin side. I was told by them that they do installs till the 22nd but it's probably the CMO trying to get me to choose them over Openserve. Good luck!

Metro was here first but as soon as I saw Openserve trenching, I knew I needed them! He actually finished the install like 5 minutes ago haha. Just trying to get connected now

Wait until you do an upgrade. It takes 20 phonecalls, 3 emails, numerous tests, 5x rebooting ONT, rebooting firewall (interface reset apparently not enough), 5 speedtest screenshots (got to be from a copper connected laptop), escalation to director level and eventually a 3-way conference call before they finally manage to do it right.
This is hilarious. Just went through this drama haha must have taken me at least 16 hours of harassing support from WebAfrica’s side and then also MetroFibre side… for some reason my pre-order line was 25/25 and not 300/300.

So made the normal support calls and it took them 3 days to assist me. Eventually my download was 25mbps and then my upload correct at 300mbps.

Took me another 5 days to get them to resolve my download speed issue.

Now finally I’m 300/300 and 8 days later… 50 calls, 50 emails and 50 WhatsApp support chats. Just terrible.

What makes things worse is that my mother in law had the same issue, she was not as aggressive with contacting support and it took a month and a half to get the issue resolved!

Quite a few disconnects with MFN today in Pretoria North area. I am with Cool Ideas and a friend with Vodacom and we both were affected so far.
