Our MetroFibre at 4;22am after cable thieves ripped it out the ground.
South Rand Road (near Silver Ball)
Guess I'll be using LTE hotspot for a few days.

EDIT: Good news, was sorted out by 3pm same day.
There were two cable providers affected as the thieves ripped open two manholes.

Who is currently on a 250/250 line and is only getting about 90 on their line? I have upgraded from a 40 line to a 250 line yesterday and when I did a speed test I only got about 90 speed. I phoned their support line and were told I am supposed to get what I pay for. I was also told that maybe my rooter cannot handle the high speed. Is this possible?

what Router do you have,

so how will it work now with Vox and the price/Speed upgrades,
will Vox pass on the cost to me, or how does it usually work?
havent gotten any feedback from anybody or emails advising me the cost will increase,

It's the Calix model, big black router.
Its a Calix 844, if your testing with ethernet it should easily give you full speed as the ports are 1G/s. If testing on Wi Fi, make sure your connecting to the 5Ghz SSID, it should get close, (on 2.4Ghz 90 is about all you will get)
If your testing on Ethernet make sure the device your using is negotiating at 1Gb/s

I'm only using eithernet. Are there any settings I must change on the router to improve the speed?

"If your testing on Ethernet make sure the device your using is negotiating at 1Gb/s" - How must I check for this? Sorry, I'm a newbie to this.

You need to make sure the cable you're using is CAT5e or up and that the network port you're using on your device is also 1Gbps. What device is it? Windows? Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre then click on the Ethernet and it will show you the speed. It should say 1Gbps. Mine shows 100Gbps because it's a VPN, not a physical port, but will look similar.

Sorry gents, My bad. Never thought about this. I'm using an Android tv box with 10/100 Ethernet connection. I then did a test with the laptop and I got the 250 speed. Thanks gents for helping me.

Glad you found the problem though :)

Which major projects did they cancel/delay?
Price increases after a major price cut can only mean that uptake was not what they expected thus they're adjusting for that misjudgement.
Well to keep it to Pretoria, rather large FTTH/neighbourhoods like Valhala and Silverton were scheduled for roll out but was cancelled around August and the places that were rolled out in had the project beginning in March and only going live mid September. Just asking....

That's interesting. Are they middle income or higher? If they are, then that's weird to cancel.

Do they already have fibre or was MFN going to be the first?

That seems about normal. At least in my area. Started at the beginning of March 2021, went live in the last day of August 2021.

My parents are in Silverton and they've been on Metrofibre for a few months now already.

Lower-middle income :D

They probably live in Zone 1 & 2, and that is what peeved me. They start with a bang but only finished 2/3s of the neighbourhood. They would've been the first FNO in Silverton Zone 3 (300+ freestanding houses and multiple apartment complexes) and they garnered a lot of sign-ups through a marketing campaign but then disappeared. Which left the community rather fed up. But then Openserve came and replaced the ADSL with Fibre so I guess it is Metrofibre's loss. It is a lower-middle income with high income houses spread out that have to use Rain or MTN to meet demand.

I am just begging someone like FrogFoot, Vumatel, or another FNO rolls out because there is definitely a demand for gigabit speeds!

Did anyone with Rocketnet get an email titled increase the speed 2023?

If so, please share the screenshot as I lost that mail
