Thanks cavedog, would have been nice to get this info from my ISP and Metrofibre when I ask, but I suppose that's just asking for too much.
 
I know we had some trouble with a water pipe and the municipality didn't disappoint by destroying a MetroFibe "access point" or "junction box" and we report it in hopes that they will fix it before we sit without internet. We reported it 4 weeks later rats are calling it home. So I am looking at getting Rain at the end of this month or maybe next month.

ISP says Metrofibre are down in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West.

That is a big outage. Has your ISSP given you an ETA?

Your ISP is correct, there is a major outage that started round about 5:42. No ETA yet but they are attending at the moment.

Same nonsense. Fourways Jhb.

The messed-up thing is my next-door neighbor (same complex) has full line speed but I'm dead despite full green on my ONT. We just have different ISP's. I'm with AH he's with L7. And if I check my traffic logs at AH my line went dark at exactly 24:00 which leads me to believe this was a scheduled event that went tits up. This is a regular thing for me with MFN and it's grinding my gears!

I am also on Afrihost. Someone in my complex says theirs is working so it it might be the ISP setup at Metrofibre that is affected.

i did notice the past month there were downtimes for a 1 minute at a time while I was working which never was the case before with them

They also increased the bill amount by R20 this month to R517 for their lowest speed fibre product so that sucks as well.
 
My line just went live again. Just FYI. 10 hour outage according to my logs... annoying.
 
One thing I have noticed about MetroFibre.

You have Metrofibre/Telkom and Metrofibre/Vodacom if you want to take a contract with them. I personally am Metrofibre only.

Today MetroFibre/Vodacom was out but MetroFibre/Telkom was running alongside my own. However when they came to FIX the Vocacom problem we also went down.

Truth is if you are a MetroFibre only client you do pay less and it is worth noting that. So maybe cut out the middle man and just go with MetroFibre only options.

I am a bit worried about Rain. If Rain starts to provide a true prepaid service and not Month to Month and it is still a contract at the end of the day. I don't want to pay for what I am not using.

That said MetroFibre is not stable at all. I see it when I work or play a game. I even see it when I am watching a movie. It really is a problem for me.

@AfriGuy could you look into this? I've heard of a couple of cases where AH is affected and other ISPS in the same complex are not (all on MFN).
 
I'm down in Durban, I take it the outage is causing these intermittent page load issues...
