Strange thing is I’m still getting roughly 1,000/300 since December 2021 when we went live with our 300/300 MetroFibre line. Of course I’d prefer the 500/500 as I do make use of that upload… I wrote this off to MetroFibre testing new packages… so seems I was right there haha
I’d upgrade from 500/500 to 1,000/500 if this was an option.
1,000/250 doesn’t make sense…

Yeah 1000/250 doesn't make sense if they are willing to give 500 for less a month. I would have expected at least 500 Upload on the 1Gbps or better 1Gbps upoad as they usually only do symmetrical speeds.
Seems I’m upgraded as well now!! 500/500 thanks WebAfrica Helper

500/500 is a downgrade in my eyes. You will miss the download speed I'm telling you.
From me max upload on the 500/500 was around 538Mbps. On the 1Gbps line it's 270 which is half but I don't think it's that big of an issue.
Normal HDD can't keep up if you multithread because of the randome reads speeds drop and disk io shoots sky high. At around 300Mbps the hdd can cope with the randome reads so it's the sweat spot for me.
One thing I noticed is that the more speed disk performance drops significantly if you don't do sequential downloads or uploads.
