Relocated. New place also had MetroFibre so did a COA (Change of address) and took the ONT (Calix 803v2)

Moved from the Amberfield OLT to the Centurion Central OLT sadly speeds dropped from a constant 920-940Mbps to struggling to get to 700Mbps. :(

New place. Centurion OLT

Still have the same issue. I'm guessing Centurion area right?

It's because what I suspect MetroFibre have load balanced MPLS from Centurion.

My speeds vary between 700-850Mbps depending on stuff like multi-threading and difference sources and ipv4 vs ipv6

Thanks, Midrand, wonder if it would help logging a ticket with AH but i have my doubts seeing you didn't get anywhere?

Hmm not sure if it follows the same route because when I was at Amberfield the 1Gbps was really good. They had the node at Xneelo Samrand so it was really good.

Did you try connecting to the ONT directly and all that?

Nope, not yet.
The speed test was ran on the router connected to ONT.

Looks like some MFN changes are coming, got the following from my ISP.
20/20Mbps - No Change
50/50Mbps - Price increase as of 1 June 2023
100/100Mbps - No Change
200/200Mbps - Discontinued as of 1 Feb 2023
400/400Mbps - New as of 1 Feb 2023 Same Price as 200/200Mbps
500/500Mbps - No Change
1000/250Mbps - Price decrease as of 1 March 2023
@PBCool @RocketNet-Rep will you guys be offering these changes as well.

A few of us are look at the price decrease for 1Gbps package.

I have noticed that some days at some times between 7-10PM that speeds can't keep up like they do during the day, since the upgrade.

Instead of 400 on downloads, the same downloads will only be 150-300mbps.

This also used to happen a few times when I was still on 200mbps. Speeds would be around 150mbps around those times sometimes.

No clue if it's a local MFN Durban thing or just a WebAfrica thing.

Let me know so I can test for you.

I've experienced this on the higher packages in PTA, since the upgrade I use to get around 800 in the evenings now its down to 550-600.

Whenever mfn decides to upgrade existing users instead of decreasing their prices I just want to cry because its like clock work for a month i experience bottom of the barrel speeds.

When they did 200 > 300 during peak I would get 30 - 50
300 > 500 I went to 1000 during peak I would struggle to get anything more then 200

I'm wondering whether Metrofibre is using this to expose areas of the network that needs attention.

Especially the promo where 50 and 100 goes to 400Mbps for 4 months. They also now have the lowest priced 1Gbps and 400Mbps. They are tied with on the 500Mbps package in terms of price with Vuma.

It's pretty high speed increases.

That's a pretty stupid strategy if they don't have capacity, just a bunch of pissed off customers and wrecked reputation.

Well at the R697 for 400/400 promo for 4 x months and not getting any loadshedding ideal for my mini server.
Yes, but you paying for a 50mb line but only getting 20. That would piss off people more than the freeby. It's like they are beta testers or something.
