At 1.15pm on January 21 2011 hackers finally took control of the Mail & Guardian's website.

I think the title of this article is rather generously named. But that's just my opinion.

The M&G's team spent much of Wednesday evening and Thursday morning this week rebuilding the site's server from scratch, making sure all "ports" to the internet were closed and installing a firewall.

HAHAHA. Wonder if they closed port 80 as well?

Linux servers get hacked all the time, not only windows server. It's not the OS but the setup that matters.

Gotta love their title: "How we beat Russian hack attack". Thats an interesting thing to say considering the fact that they really got PWNED! To make matters worse, they have now closed all ports to the internet. sigh.

No firewall? What?! I don't care who you are or how big or small your organization is, but for a website that's been online for that long NOT to have a firewall on their server (which I assume is a dedicated one to boot) is like having sex with random strangers and not wearing a condom. You'll catch AIDS eventually.

They played Russian roulette and LOST. Pathetic I.T team if you ask me (probably their tea lady doubles as their I.T "team")
