Microsoft Edge - new web browser for Windows 10

A new exciting way to download chrome and firefox

People still use chrome? Been on FF a while now since I've gotten so tired of chrome's random issues...
Have up on chrome a long time ago. But i hope this is good because I'm not the biggest fan of FF even though it is serving me very well atm.

Chrome has become a ram hog. Unfortunately I have to use it for work and with multiple instances of it running, things really start to slow down.

I know the browser hasn't been called edge but using the developer toolbar for debugging, it's had edge as an option for a while now in ie 11 for document compatibility/browser mode.

How funny. Replace "Chrome" with "IE" in that sentence and you have instant time warp to 2005!

Frankly, MS will have to go a long way still before they can convince me to leave a FOSS browser.

And..
Internet Explorer won’t disappear overnight, though, as the old browser is kept around for enterprise customers
...is just BS. MS tied large corporates into their outdated, stagnating Windows/Office/IE ecosystem way too long be so easily forgiven.

That's not the way it works. Corporate, especially large ones, move very slowly and insist on backward compatibility. To exist there, MS has to support legacy systems even when it's keen to move to something newer. Backward compatibility is one of the major planks of large-scale success in platforms, as you know.

True, but there is a difference between backwards compatibility and abusing market leadership and being uncompetitive. LibreOffice provides better backwards compatibility with old Office formats the Office itself.
My problem is more with standards compliance and keeping all others out.

No. It's the corporations themselves who tied themselves to Windows. And they also tie themselves to Apple, Oracle. They make their own choices. Nobody held a gun to anyone's head saying "install Windows, mother###!!" :)

The demo video of Edge looks good. I'm not so hung up on the drawing on the screen stuff but the hover over tab preview is awesome and it looks fast and slick and nicely animated. In general I found last night's demo of Windows 10 very impressive and it's turning out to be an exciting development. Aero Start Menu ftw.

Been playing with it on the Windows 10 Insider Program...All I know at the moment is the moment I hit F12 for developer tools it instantly crashes for me :p Although they've probably only released an earlier version to the Insider Program. No shiny tab hover overs yet :( But it does feel slick and smooth to open and close tabs etc :)
