I'm looking for a good Microsoft Based hosting site. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

My application is an MVC app that uses Entity Framework Code First approach so I need to have full rights to my database to create/update/drop tables and columns.

I recently tried Afrihost Gold Pro and cancelled my package within 2 days as none of the technicians would even try and help sort me out. It was actually really shocking how they handle databases. You need to make a backup, send it to them and then they will restore it. Same if you want to make a change to your LIVE database, they make a backup send to you, you change it and they restore it. I was like...wow...I can't believe they even thought about doing it this way. Plus they don't give you any remote access to the database.

Some recommendations I've seen so far are:
  • elitehost.co.za
  • HostKing.co.za

Do you know if they give you full remote access to your database as well as give your application rights to make changes?

Elitehost doesn't do Windows hosting as far as I know.

Your best bet would be to email the different hosting companies, telling them what you want to do and if you'd be able to do it with them. Check their replies and go with the one that looks the best.

Lol, yea afrihost is totally clueless in the hosting department hence why we moved, and databases... oh good lawrd, yea it's not their strength.

Think there was winhost.co.za back in the day. Not Sur if they offer anything more than shared hosting though.

I'd suggest a Windows VPS like Winnity.

http://winity.io/

You can use the promo code "20PERCENT" for 20% off for life. You can probably find additional discount or promo code's on lowendbox.com / lowendtalk.com too.

Hi KageNinja, unfortunately as mentioned by Solitude mentioned we unfortunately do not do Microsoft Windows based hosting. Our hosting is based on Linux.

I hope you come right in your search for a Microsoft Windows based host that fits your requirements.
