Microsoft Office for iPad launched

For games yes.

Agreed, but then there are plenty of apps out there that front being 'free' just as a means to sell something. After finding out what sort of margin the app stores make though I can see the direct cause of this.

For businesses and households it's a fantastic deal, but for individuals who don't need professional grade office apps i agree it's too heavily weighted to those who can make use of all the licenses the subscription offers. To sweeten the deal they should enhance the freebies somewhat. Upping the onedrive size from 20gigs to 100 gigs would go a long way i would think.

For households it's a terrible deal. We used to pay $100'ish for a multiple machine license on OsX. Now it's $100 per year.

+1
yip I certainly won't be a subscriber in my personal capacity; and this type of crap is even now pushing me to even reevaluate the need to maintain MS Office in the business arena; and honestly I'm struggling with trying to justify to keep it re the shift from Capex to Opex.

As I said this is certainly not a good start for Satya Nadella.

Did the OSx version have Outlook?

The standalone pc/mac versions haven't gone away yet.

If you have a household with macs, pc's, iphones, and android devices, which is pretty common, it can make sense if you factor everything in (skype minutes, onedrive, etc). But like i said to sweeten the deal for those who don't really need pro office apps, they should up the amount of storage you get with onebox. You pay more than $100 per year for a single 100gig dropbox account.

If for R75 a month i could get all my family's office needs taken care of as well as substantial cloud storage to replace dropbox i'd go for the deal. Without more cloud storage it isn't worth it for me.
