Microsoft puts ads in Windows 11 Start Menu

"For example, a new Windows 11 Home or Pro installation now requires users to be logged into a Microsoft account during the initial setup process."
Thank goodness there is a workaround for this twaddle:

If windows was free I’d understand this.

Why is the entire world just bending over to ms?

Early version? Even the current version of Windows 11 has some ads in its Start Menu.

Someone will probably release an OS-level adblock to deal with it.

Oh well ... cpt jack sparrow it

Valid point. Although you'd have to concede that things got a lot better since Win 8 and earlier days.
Legitimate Win 10/11 licenses can be had for a pittance these days.
I'd much rather have ads then go back to those earlier days.
It's still a d*ck move though.

Windows 7? XP? It the time those where golden.

Well it can be licensed for a few bucks probably on dsps which dies with the board but it’s important to note the retailers buy these from Microsoft at a cheaper but still hefty price tag per machine.

It’s nicely worked into the sales price of a laptop or desktop so saying it’s free because you got a free upgrade is delusional.
