Mifi device questions

On my laptop, browsing to the mifi adapter's web management page, I get the "full" page etc.

But doing the same with my nexus gives the "mobile" page. How or what can I change so that I dont get mobile view on my Nexus?

Use a browser on your Nexus where you can emulate a full browser.
The web page is told to check the browser type and to use the appropriate version - full or mobile.

Its easy type in 192.168.1.*/html/home.html

There any app concerned with the network and devices conncected and configuration of sorts for the MiFi?

My Afrihost quota took a hammering over the weekend, so I'm testing my Vodacom data SIM (2G only on Vodacom around here) in the MiFi. Oddly enough I didn't need to alter the APN - it 'just works'

I didnt even know there was a full version.

Another way is to request the full version from browser (i know on chrome there is an option)

I have another MTN connection at home and this is much faster than the Afrihost Mifi connection. Download speed 989kbps vs 114kbps. Looking at MTN coverage map there is a 3g signal here.

Does anyone know why the difference could be so vast? Also have tried to force the Mifi to 3G and then there is no signal...

Not sure how, but would it be possible to insert the sim into the other dongle to see if this would make a difference and if so how do I do it?

It depends on the devices. Some devices, like smartphones, have much more powerful technology to boost signal and work with a broader range of frequencies.

You can definitely use your SIM in any other device, as long as it's not network locked (which is pretty unlikely these days)

Is there any way to force 3G mode on the device? In my area, people on the MTN network all have 3G+ connection on their phones, but my mifi device keeps switching between 2G and 3G

Thanks - using a Huawei E173 dongle so still not sure why the large difference in speed?

Not sure if this has been covered on here.

What happens if the MiFi device starts to act up/ not functioning anymore ?

A) can we take it directly to the agents or
B) do we have to send it back to Afrihost and pay necessary courier cost etc.

Might just be paranoid - I have noticed a lot of dropped calls on my mobile phone once the Mifi is switched on and when the device is switched off no drop calls occur tried it a few times.

If your MiFi is on a protection plan, then you can send it back to us (we pay the collection and delivery) and that extends for as long as you have the plan with us.

If not, we only cover what falls under the normal manufacturer's warranty.

Not sure that WiFi signals interfere with calls. I think they're on totally different frequencies by ICASA standards. Is your phone on MTN?
